Mobile maddness is about to happen! Found an opened Angels 20 set in Hunter's misc things, hate to see them gather dust while my NZ grandson has only a Lancaster hanging from his ceiling . . .

Found some 1/16" dia carbon rod.
Where did that black button cord go . . . ? Will be back in a minute . . .

Excellent job Tim

Magnificent works, there, chaps!

Great work already.
Tim the Valom Elll is this the brass etch or have you used wire for the undercarriage and upper rigging support. Looks good whichever.
Bob the C47 looks fantastic, I guess you have lots of friends if you do lovely looking jobs like this for them.
I echo Peter's comments, Bob - friendship would be a lovely thing - that C-47 is simply gorgeous Rob, I look forward to seeing your storage renovations Tim, your Eindeckers are einfach fabelhaft - thanks for the Valom inspiration!
So many projects in the queue - I must get to work!!!
All the best,
Matt
Love the Saturn V, always wanted to do the whole NASA space series in 1/144" scale . . . Not enough space in my collection . . . !
No statute of limitations on model construction . . . : )
The undercarriage is the original photo-etch.
The upper rigging support is a piece of wire bent to shape.
I have always stated that there is no need whatsoever to replace the photo-etch with anything else; it is just fine for the job.
Then, when building this beastie, I discovered that the etch parts were scored where they need to be bent; when removing this bit from the sprue, it leapt off my workbench into the great unknown! So I had to replace it.
I'll take more care with the next one (under construction).

I posted pictures of these in the Painting Showcase folder but following the flight path of the Flying Helmut I'll post a different picture of the same models here. This time with a clearer view of the reconstructed undercarriage (and the cabane A-frame) that were damaged in taking off my failed rigging attempt. These are meant to go with the cards from the Immelmann pack - green for Hautzmayer and beige for Immelmann (or Parvanov) as I don't have either of those Ares models).
Bob if that is the ZVEZDA that is one heck of a job. One heck of a job even if it isn't.
Received some planes I ordered from AIM last week and some SHAPEWAYS planes so working on this months project. Good thing I have the decals from Kevin for them.
So John, how do they scale? Not a strong point with Blood Red Skies in the past, and are they plastic or metal?

Lest we forget
My only problem is that with the Spitfire Vs as well, I now need 10 x Q decks!!!
I SO wish Ares would produce card decks on their own. I'd certainly go Ł3 per, maybe more for the larger decks.
There are so many WWII models and marks that would be uneconomic for Ares to manufacture but that we get from other sources
Lest we forget
Worth it almost for the decals alone then John.
Rob.

Additional decks has been a topic on many occasions. ARES made booster packs, glad I bought them, for WWI and WWII planes. Not sure if you can get them anymore.
Very seldom see any now Bob.

Booster packs getting hard to find...got all but one and am sure Q decks aint in em. Sooner or later someone is going to find a way to reprint em. That or use the stripped down ones some here produce.
Hit and run are WWI, he needs Q for Spitfire Mk V's which are WWII If I read it right.
Still think it needs to be painted up like a Easter Egg.
That must be one of your lozenge balloons from Ages Past that you did for Hunter?! Gorgeous stuff, David
All the best,
Matt
Amazing balloon, Clipper!

I was just wondering about the booster packs and checked EBAY. There were a few there. Two of the WWII packs were going for $49.95. I think I paid $5.95 for one of them. Then there were a few planes and as always they wanted some off the wall price.
Bumped into a chap at Salute who said he was hoping to become Ares official UK rep, as apparently there isn't one at the moment.
He asked me if there was anything particular that UK players wanted, so I raised the issue of manouvre decks stressing the use for those aircraft which it would not be financially viable to produce models of due to their rarity in the real world.
He said he would talk to Ares about the possibility of producing deck only packs.
I'm not holding my breath, but if we keep knocking, maybe someone will hear us eventually
Lest we forget
