Thread: Assistance Needed

    Default Assistance Needed

Apologies but this is not Wings related:

A call to anyone who would be willing to lend a desperate group (Simon (Maverick), Chris (Hedeby) and myself), any quantity of Bolt Action 28mm British (Infantry, support weapons, Tanks - painted please) suitable for a 75th Anniversary D Day Bolt Action game to raise money for the Royal British Legion and the YMCA charities would be gratefully appreciated.

Owing to distances involved, (ie I'm up north in Ashington, where said game is taking place) would you also be willing to drop them off at Simons (Gloucester area), Chris (Doncaster area) or myself (Newcastle area) or allow us to pick them up (if your close)?

Please PM one of us if you can help out.

Dates required as soon as possible as games are Friday 7th June (Pegasus Bridge - ample figures we have already) and Saturday 8th June (D Day landings - 18ft x 4ft layout (Germans and US we have a plenty it's British we are short of).

Everything to be returned ASAP after event.

Anyone interested in popping in to see us are more than welcome, you might even get a game.

    Neil

Hope all goes well with this marshalling of forces, Neil - Simon tried his best to interest me in Bolt Action by showing me all of his Brits when we visited in January - they are gorgeous figures, and I look forward to seeing photos of the invasion sometime later this summer! Best of luck as you attempt this wonderful feat

    All the best,
    Matt

I will see if I can get any help from the Doncaster Wargames Group (they often have neighbouring tables at many of the local shows) I know they are heavily into Bolt Action

Crazy atuff there, Neil! How big is each board? And where do you plan to play the game?

I look forward to seeing more, as well as the pics from the marathon gaming session...

    All the best,
    Matt

The complete board is 18ft long and 4ft wide. Made up of 9 4x2 mdf boards. Game covers Sword, Juno, Gold and Omaha beaches with a small Pont du Hoc at the end.

Game is being played on June 8th, at Ashington YMCA centre. Doors open 10am and close (to the public) 4pm. We can game on into the night but have to be clear and tidied up Saturday night.

    8 Players.

All 28mm scale, Bolt Action rules. Nearly 1,000 figures, 10-13 Landing Craft (TBC), loads of supporting arms (mortars, MMG, artillery etc) and 20 armoured vehicles.

Raising money for British Legion and the YMCA, my local gaming club.

We have some raffle prizes, 3 Bolt Action orientated (From Warlord Games) and a number donated by my employer (Jewellery and Watches and nick knacks shop).

We are having a trial run through for timings etc on 1st May, but will only be fighting Omaha and Pont du Hoc. (Although all the boards will be laid out complete). This will also give the YMCA time to take promotional pictures for advertising the event.

Ill send pictures of the complete set up and game in hand after 1st MAy.

I'm hoping that Graeme (the YMCA tech wizard) can rig up a live feed internet connection for people to watch the game progress.

Raffle tickets are being allocated from sponsor money received. Chris will correct me if I'm wrong but I think the plan was for every Ł5 sponsored pledge = 1 raffle ticket. So far I think between everyone who is raising (not only on forum) we have hit the Ł250+ mark.
