    Default Midway Airport Dauntless

Passing through Chicago's Midway Airport I got a nice surprise.

They have a nice display to go along with the aircraft suspended from the ceiling.

I never realized Midway Airport was named for the battle - I usually go through O'Hare (named for WWII hero "Butch" O'Hare)

    Thumbs up

    Very nice!
We have an Aussie WW2 Hudson Bomber in the Canberra Airport.
Must take a photo when I next fly up to Queensland.

It is a very appropriate aircraft to display there considering the contribution made by the Dauntlesses at the Battle of Midway.

There used to be an F4F at O'Hare wasn't there?

Still there, as far as I know. It was there when I went through some years ago (2013):

According to the plaque, the actual plane was fished out of Lake Michigan in the 90s; it was a lost in training off one of the two side-wheel training carriers during ww2

It was restored, and repainted to match O'Hare's plane. Not positioned best for photos, but a nice display nevertheless.

Your attachment is not showing, Karl.

    Here's a link : O'Hare Wildcat

Looks like it must be in an area I don't pass through on connecting flights.
