Default The Wright Flight takes to the skies once again!

This coming Saturday is the second one of the month, and, as always, that means The Wright Flight is at it again at Epic Loot in Centerville, Ohio. Doors, as always, open at 11 AM, and I can almost guarantee we will be airborne by 11:30 Not sure who the adversaries will be just yet - we have Jim's Russians who probably need a workout, but other possibilities abound. I am posting on our FB page when I finish here to see what the guys might want to engage in, other than good clean fun - which is what we always have when we get together! Watch this space for further updates as the week goes on...

    All the best,
    Matt

Looks like at least one scenario will involve Russian bombers offering themselves up as targets... Other games will be based on whether we want to do more Eastern Front stuff or switch to something more traditional.

    All the best,
    Matt

Should be a fun time, as usual, Dave! I will try to take more pictures - I always seem to be absorbed by the game and banter and forget to snap pics...

Thats what its all about. All of us that can't be there feel left out and want to see photos but enjoying your time is what really matters.
    But don't forget the pictures!

Besides Russians I have some interesting Austrian advisories. I am excited to show both new groups. Happy Snappys will follow.

Do you always meet on the second Saturday of the month?
So how many books are in your personal library?

That is our scheduled regular meeting/gaming time, Robert. We can usually put a game together on the fly at Epic Loot on other weekends, too, but we try to always have games on the 2nd Saturday, unless no one can come or the hobby shop has no room for us...occasionally they run tournaments or have a store-wide sale that takes up all the gaming tables...

    All the best,
    Matt

First game today involved Russian Ilya-Mouromets bombers escorted by Sikorsky S13s facing Austro-Hungarian Albatros DIII scouts from Flik 41J...three bombers and four scouts against six Albartos fighters.

    Below are the Russians...

    ...and their A-H opponents.

Closing the distance and starting to deal out some damage...

...as the Russian line is pierced all hell breaks loose.

The furball commences, with those dastardly bombers (33 damage points each!) soaking up damage and acting like nothing's happening...

...in fact, the Russian bombers leave lots of destruction in their wake...we had downed plane markers all over the place.

The Russians are turning over their target, and only one bomber will end up being taken down on the next turn. - for a cost of three Albatros scouts, and then some...

We typically let planes 'respawn' after sitting out a full turn after they are shot down - there were a lot of scouts respawning today! Those Russian bombers are tough with a capital T - thanks goodness all they have is B guns!

It was a fun time flying some planes that aren't normally seen on the field. Jim really does a nice job with his repaints and Shapeways planes

    All the best,
    Matt

Our second game involved a simple furball with Russian SPAD A2s escorted by Moraine-Saulniers taking on Albatros DIIs. There were lots of collisions and surprising damage from the same in a pretty fast and bloody dust-up - the SPADs were deadlier than we thought they were going to be...

Not a lot to describe - the pictures speak for themselves. Notice the fallen plane markers littering the battlefield

Again, another fun game with out-of-the-ordinary aircraft....

Very cool! There is a Ilya-Mouromets with a rear gun position . . . makes them even more the first gunships!

Being sent to the Russian front, not as threatening as it will be in 40 years. Great games!
