Thread: I'm Reading "Winged Victory"

    Default I'm Reading "Winged Victory"

I figured while I'm on a roll and posting threads, I'd both share a view on a book and ask a question about something I've read in it.

Firstly, the book is "Winged Victory" by V.M. Yeates. It's a novel but gives a very definite impression of reflecting someone's personal memoirs. I'm only about halfway through it so I can't give a fully qualified recommendation (sorry) but I read a reference to "a big Ak-W"... I have no idea what that is. It's British and evidently carries observers but that's about all I can glean. I've tried looking it up but haven't yet been successful in my searching, so I'm throwing it out to all you folks for help.

Can anyone direct me toward an answer?

Yeates was a fighter ace & the book's a semi-autobiographical work so that's spot on. It's looked upon as one of the most accurate accounts of aerial warfare and it's effects.
