I agree Dave, but way outside my comfort zone. My WW2 tanks are stretching my knowledge of modern weaponry. I can recognize a Matilda just!

What scale are those ships John?

all the boats are from Warlord Games, part of their Cruel Seas game.
The E boats were on the front of Wargaming magazine a couple of months ago, the tanker was Ł18 direct from Warlord Games.
They have an ever growing line of ships in 1/300 scale, the tanker was the cheapest larger vessel they do, but it should look ok for low level bombing attacks, which the Whirlwinds usually did from 150ft or lower!
I'm working on an idea for night attacks, based partly on ideas Neil (Skafloc) demonstrated in his Attack on Taranto at Doncaster a while back and also consulting his posted work on ship attack rules.
OK for a two or three person game, but nothing bigger unfortunately (my ideas that is).

Sounds very interesting John. I must take a closer look at those. Always on the lookout for ships I can add to my Malta convoys.

I wanted to work on 4 different manufacturers models at the same time, to compare & contrast, etc.
Hence 'Red Eagle', 'Ares', 'Shapeways' and 'Valom'.

I found the ships in the starter set easy to build and paint. So far, the other ones I bought are "in process" partly due to good weather to prime, and mostly due to the lack of build instructions, which greatly increases the frustration level.

Otherwise, they will make a good game, as well as great targets!

Very tasty, Steve! Does Airfix make a line of kits scaled to 28mm now? I have not paid much attention to Airfix scales lately...or is it a 1/48 vehicle that works nicely for that scale? Whatever the case, it's beautiful work and will look splendid on the table with the rest of your modern British mob

    All the best,
    Matt

Matt, it’s 1/48. I think it’s out of production at the moment but still available on Evilbay.

Been getting a bit of Cruel Seas action down at the hobby shop the last few months, lots of fun.

Finishing up some Warmaster 10mm undead for me and some larger stuff for a local. Have 12 more cowboys ready to start tomorrow then a 100 fig Romanian Bolt Action army to start painting this weekend. And as normal do not paint the bases as he rebases them on clear discs (with the exception of the one coming out of the grave.

Jager, those are old GW Warmaster figs from the late 90's. Stocked up on em when they were clearing the shelves at the FLGS about 2002. You can still find Warmaster stuff on E-bay and there is a online rulebook also. GW just abandoned the whole line 15 or so years ago.

All Shapeways except the SPAD VII by Skytrex.
You can see the four birds finished today. The remaining two weeks are enough for the big birds.

I missed the Jackal first time round, fantastic. I know it's a bit daft but you've done a stunning job on the tyres, and grills, bringing out the detail on the model to perfection.

The rest of its pretty good too. Cookies as well, what more could we ask for.
