Thread: March Work Bench 2019

    Default March Work Bench 2019

Zeppelins! Again, yes I revisited the Hawk Graf Zeppelin with some new ideas. I am going to do a conversion to S.L. 22, no it's not full size, but neither are our game tables, so this build will be undersized but still big enough to make a great show! Since the kit is still available it brings a bit of zeppelin happiness into our game since the elves are awol

The Schutte-Lanz SL 22 is a late design with the cool black/white killer whale colors. Should be fun!

Unreal what you come up with. I saw a clip on YouTube that a guy puts out on the things he finds at Dollar Tree and uses them for his model railroad. I thought of you when I saw it.

Finished my planes today now just photos to take and post.

Again AIM models and MISCMINI decals. The dragon (The HUFF) I thought was pretty nice to put on the plane. It might be on the wrong plane as I have seen it before but not sure what the aircraft number is. I should have checked that before putting it on.

Actually Phil it's Bob. I don't think Clipper would have made such a mistake. I should have double checked before I did that plane. Thanks for the correction though.
I did see other pictures where the stripes on the wings are further out but they ae my planes and I can live with my mistake.

Really likin' those 50s jets, Bob, and the Vietnam versions are pretty nifty, too! Definitely have to think hard about some Korean War stuff...

Nice Naps, too, Ken! And the Western townsfolk are lovely - I was at a local con this past weekend in Cincinnati, and I was surprised how much there was available for Wild West skirmish gaming - I must resist (it's always been a fave of mine...)

I've done a set of wheels for my 28mm Brits - a Foxhound Light Patrol Vehicle.

This is a 3D printed model which happily is of excellent quality. Given it only cost about Ł30 you wonder how Shapeways come up with their pricing structure.

I've pimped it a bit by adding treadplate on the bonnet, Fuel can and holder on the back, wire cutter, number plates, aerials, satellite aerial and a crew with scale GPMGs - the kit ones were a bit overscale. Now trying to kit bash some bar armour for a Warthog from spares from the Airfix Warrior kit.

Spectacular work on those 'wheels', Steve! What a lovely 3D print, and your 'pimping that ride' really adds to the finished product. It certainly looks as good as anything I've seen made by the Bolt Action folks. I can't wait to see the Warthog...

Finally moving this one off the bench to make room for others. Old Lindberg LCI kit, converted to, specifically, LCI (L) #3. If I'd known at the start I would have to fabricate everything but the hull and 20mm guns (both of which were also modified) I probably wouldn't have started but I'm happy with how it turned out.

I haven't played any jet age game. Just enjoyed painting them since it is something different. I was going to look for that set of rules next week at Cold Wars. CigarBox makes mats that you can get hexes on so that is something else to check out. I did see a video on You Tube that showed CY6 Jet age.

It's more of an Iraq-era Warrior prior to the Afghan upgrades with all the fancy-schmancy hi-tech that was added. I've a couple of more up-to-date Airfix Warriors which I will do if/when I get time.

Matt, the Warrior is from 1st Btn Scots Guards, but currently all my infantry are Paras. I’ve got 40 painted up; come Salute in April I should have about a dozen or so more - medics, IED team, dog team and some wounded - plus a Jackal and warthog. That ‘only’ leaves another 50 or supports and heavy weapons to paint up, probably as Scots Guards, plus another 50 Taliban and supports.

Seem to be on a roll this month.

Tonight finished 4 units of 10mm Warmaster Skeletons for me, a French 12 pounder Napoleon also for me, 10 dead gunfighters for the hobby store, and a unit of Pinkertons (ala Clint Eastwoods Pale Rider Movie) for a regular. Working on a half dozen Hyenas right now and maybe some more Nappys and Warmaster 10mm stuff this weekend (seems one of the guys at the hobby shop is building an army and I have 4 or 5 2 to 3 K armies left over from the late 90's 3/4 painted (roughly 35 unpainted blister pack in stock). Between this and Nappys have started clearing backstock from decades past out of the basement and getting it painted at last.
