The struts between the fuselage and the lower wing must have been tricky. Kudos for even attempting this, I wouldn't have, my skill isn't in that league!

Thanks for the kind comments. I've found the secret is to glue the struts to the lower wing with super glue and put it aside until the glue has dried completely. I then glue the upper wing into place. This allows for some slight bending of the struts as required to get it all to line up. It's very difficult to do it all in one step.
That's the same process I used in the end, but I don't trust the superglue for impact shear on such a small point so built up the joint with two part epoxy glue, applied with a cocktail stick. It tends to give me a blob join but hopefully bullet proof.
