Here I show you the kit for Spad VII used for Ruddolf Windisch in the Jasta 66.
This aircraft was originally flown by Portuguese Captain Oscar Montero Torres of SPA 65. Torres was wounded and brought down behind German lines by Lt. Rudolf Windisch (his 6th victory) on 19 November 1917.
The aircraft was captured essentially intact, and Windisch was reported to have flown the aircraft in combat while it still carried its French markings. He later had the aircraft painted red and added German markings, but he carefully preserved the original SPA 65 markings as well. He flew the re-painted SPAD in combat again, but was eventually persuaded (perhaps ordered) to cease such flights and return to his Albatros D.V.
Soon thereafter, Windisch was transferred to Jasta 50, and then a few days later was appointed to take command of Jasta 66.
While commanding Jasta 66, Windisch was shot down and captured on 27 May 1918, but appears to have died in captivity under mysterious circumstances.
