    Default Biplane Actiion

    Scenario
It is late 1940, Hitler has already cancelled his invasion of Britain plans but the Italian dictator sends his air force to enter the battle across the Channel.
Two Fiat CR42's are spotted by a couple of patrolling Gloster Gladiators. Determined to compensate for a poor Italian showing over Britain so far, the Fiats scream into the attack. The pride of IL Duce and the Regia Aeronautica is at stake! This duel over Kent will only be won when either the British or the Italians have been shot down.

    The Duelllists
Fiat CR42 Falco – Vito Rinaldi – Baxter
Fiat CR42 Falco – Luigi Gorrini – Windy Jack
Gloster Gladiator Mk.I – Marmaduke T. St. John Pattle – Biggles Downunder
Gloster Sea Gladiator – George Burges – Biggles Downunder

As with most things in life things did not go as per the script!

In a swirling ferocious dogfight both sides scored some hard hits. Burges and Pattle collided twice which helped our heroic Italian. In the final stages Burges was also set on fire. With fuel (and pilots) nearly exhausted both sides decided to head for home.

And the butchers bill for the day .....

    Rinaldi shot down.
Burges retired with 11 damage points.
Pattle retired with 11 damage points.
Gorrini retired with 10 damage points.

Well done to Biggles Downunder who managed both the Brits and also to Windy Jack for his handling of the Fiat.

    Good news on Rinaldi John.
I heard of his expertise in the culinary line.
He has been paroled and is now head chef at my HQ in Kalifrana.
