Those aircraft are just unimaginably well done. whatever scale they are.

I forgot to say that all the planes are AIM models and the decals are all MISCMINI. The Egyptian decals were a request so have to thank Kevin for his work.
Wow, you all are so talented! Amazing.
Mike: LOVE the cards, got the printer warming up already....
As to the roundels, I have several thoughts / excuses / justifications:
1. There is actually some lively debate on the subject from some knowledegable people: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2529...epa=SEARCH_BOX
2. Depending on the timeframe, they were eventually removed
3. The decals I found didn't have them ;-)
And if you happen to have cards for Roger Hedrick and Tom Killefer, they're probably next on my build list ;-)

This card is already posted: OldGuy59's WWII US Navy Fighters Album - F4U Hendrick
PS: Note the Hendrick card was after his stint as 2 I/C of VF-17.

Prolific work rate, Bob! Nicely done.

Wow, lots of great projects. Bob, your airplane output is amazing! Lady Lex is beautiful. I'm sure that airfield will see some action.
Beautiful work, Rob! More Malta is a good thing Quite the inspiration for the rest of us...
All the best,
Matt
The problem in Malta is the same as with most Dromes Matt. Getting them as they were then. The insignificant ones have long since been ploughed under, and the survivors are often now International hubs that bear very little resemblance to the wartime setup. Kalifrana itself went through a series of incarnations from the early 1930s throughout the whole war. the best I could do was take a snapshot in time as it were and call it for the whole period. Even on Malta some airfields are so changed that you might just get a semblance of an idea where the main runway lay under the new extended 40 feet wide expanse of concrete.

Rob that is one fine job and makes me want to do something with the buildings I have. I take that that is more then one set of the RAF Airfield set plus some other buildings.
Yes Bob.
Two sets and a few miscellaneous buildings that were cannibalized and stuck together.

Thanks that gives me an idea of what to do with the ones I have.
I still have a number of AIM planes to paint. This week want to get 2 more Ki 44 done and maybe work on the 2 Ki 27's I still have. Oh yes and there are the Mosquito FB's, Avenger and the Fw 200 sitting in the box.
Sometimes, if you are extremely patient, good things arrive in the mail.
These are 1/600 scale ships from Historics & Ros in Great Britain. From front to back in the top photograph are a 2500 Ton Tramp freighter, 2800 ton Tramp freighter, 3000 ton Tramp freighter, 4000 ton freighter, 4500 ton oil tanker, and a Admiralty V class destroyer. The graph paper is marked 4 squares to an inch so you can judge the size. The first five have resin hulls while the destroyer is metal. All ships include white metal detail parts to complete them. Notice the hull of the 3000 ton tramp has cast in guns on port and starboard sides (behind the boats) and a gun on the stern. Now I know where the AA machine guns will go. Below are images I lifted from the Historics & Ros website of 'completed' ships.
H&R also has some small colliers, barges and a large 10,000 ton Ocean Freighter. That one cost three times the 4000 ton freighter. The H&R website does not include dimensions for their models, and since they are in the middle of moving their business, email responses are not happening.
Now I may order some 55 foot CMBs and an 80 foot ML from PT Dockyard for some lively air-to-ship action.
Let me know if you want any photographs of these ships side-by-side with the 1/700 ships I ordered from Shapeways last year.
So how many books are in your personal library?
I foresee a Malta convoy coming on very soon Robert.

Rob you gave me an idea on what to do with the buildings I have. Might not be a big base like yours but smaller ones. Something else for me to do. Thanks for the inspiration.
Robert, these are lovely looking models - prime targets for WWI 'sea attack' scenarios! I shall have to consider getting some of these little buggers...
All the best,
Matt
I was thinking for my Malta convoys Robert.
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
I have all the ships needed for a Malta convoy made by TOPSIDE MINIS. When I ordered them he came up with names that weren't listed and asked if that was ok. I have to cut them out and place them on the solid piece that comes with them. Just another project.
Welp...in the framework of ships, just picked up my missing bits from Cruel Seas today. My hobby store got em last week so it only took over 2 months for me to have a playable game without jury rigging stuff (thanks Jager).
Got a few projects half finished but nothing photo ready yet, maybe soon. Working on 28mm Nappys, a SAGA army, some western poker players and gunfighters, and heaps of treasure for a RP game. In other words all sorts of weird S---. But, keeps me busy and if I paint theirs I do not spend money buying stuff to paint for myself (or I could work on mountains of stuff in boxes around here)
Put decals on 6 planes today and want to get 4 to 6 more done tomorrow. When done will post photos. 8 are additions to planes I have done already but 4 are for new ones I painted up.
Prepping this for Cold Wars, Peter?

AWESOME. I remember a comic book back in the 60's that had marines fighting dinos on Pacific islands. I have a bunch of them but forget the name. The wife like Godzilla.
Rob so now the Flying Tigers have to battle Martians and Godzilla ? Hope the Japanese will join us in the fight. Any chance Rodan might show up ?
He's huge Peter! I love it - knowing me, I would probably repaint it, but that's just how I roll... He will make for an awesome opponent and eye-candy for a con game!
All the best,
Matt
I agree. He will definitely get repainted. His arms and legs turn but to keep him standing the legs have very little option.
Now to play around with him and try to come up with something interesting.
Didn't think of Mothra. I have to find those comic books
I love Godzilla - would be awesome to create a Wings game with him.
