You have to allow Hedeby to choose a Bristol Fighter.
SE 5a for me! Fast yet manoeuvrable & good strength.
What was good enough for Mannock, McCudden & others is good enough for me.
Would very much like to fly a Sopwith Triplane from Ares, provided they make it correctly second time around.
The Tripehound is quite manouverable and even though only one gun has given a good account in my games
I like the SE5a a lot for late war - fast and fun until you get wounded then the steep sharp turns really hamper your efforts. The Fokker D.VII is really the one for that period.
I fly the Nieuport 17 a lot, it looks good & can be fun in a mid war skirmish, even with a single gun & due to having a captured one I can fly for both sides !
One I don't fly enough but I find a handy dog fighter is the Sopwith Tripe so I plumped for that one (wing adjusted of course)
Sapiens qui vigilat... "He is wise who watches"
The Fokker D.VII is the stand out choice for me - tough, fast and agile. It turns average pilots into good pilots and good pilots into Aces!
Also the only aircraft to mentioned by name in the terms of the November 1918 Armistice:
"Article IV. Surrender in good condition by the German armies of the following equipment: 5,000 guns (2,500 heavy, 2,500 field), 25,000 machine guns, 3000 trench mortars, 1,700 aeroplanes (fighters, bombers--firstly all D.VII's and night-bombing machines)."
On the Entente side it would be the SE.5a.
fokker DVII since ive been a fan of it since childhood. it just looks so cool!!!
Pfalz D.III
Beautiful plane and (like me) of Bavarian origin.
I like most of these choices. They are all fun to fly. If you really want a challenge fly the Albatros DVa or SPAD XIII and VII. More nimble planes are of course more fun but sometimes it's good to fly the less maneuverable ones to hone your skills.
I like the Sopwith Triplane but chose the N28. It is nimble and very colorful.
Dr1 for me just cause I like it . I seem for some reason to fly it better than any others
I really like Dr.1, but the one I'm going to choose is fokker VII. I have not been able to play with him but it seems to me an amazing plane.
I'm looking forward to being put on sale again.
If I'm playing to win, Fokker D.VII - in combat it's streets ahead of most other German planes, and it comes in a great variety of pretty colour schemes!
If I'm playing more for fun, Fokker Dr.1 or Albatros D Series (doesn't matter which).
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
D. VII if flying the dreaded Hun Se5a if flying the RFC/RAF
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
Why ever would you say that, Paul?

If I am playing Central Powers and I cannot fly a Fokker D.VII, I would choose a Siemens Schukert D.III/D.IV.
I have to agree Pete, my top ace scored half his 28 victories in the Fokker D.VII.

Handsome devil that Mattheus character. Sort of reminds me of someone ....
