RAF Lightning II's declared operational.

On 10th January 2019, whilst visiting their base, the U.K. Defence Secretary, Gavin Williamson, declared the nine F-35B Lightning II's of 617 Squadron as ready for operations.



He also took the opportunity to confirm the successful culmination of a $540 million program to upgrade the Royal Air Force's Eurofighter Typhoon fleet with Storm Shadow cruise missiles, the Meteor air-to-air missile and the Brimstone ground-attack weapon.
