  1. #1

Default Official Pfalz E.II painting thread

I couldn't find a thread on the E.II so just started this one.

Shapeways plane by RAF, spinning propeller from the Aerodrome Store, decals I-94 Enterprises, pilot - Peter Pig. Background mat is one of the new Ogre 2' x 2' M series mats just released.

This is for the DYM OTT solo campaign. Pilot is wearing a Bavarian blue checkered scarf.

Great looking Pfalz, Peter! What did you use for the wing-warping cables?

Thanks Chris. Cables are strands from a paint brush. I did a couple of French Morane-Saulnier Ps with wire strands stripped out of a small multi-strand wire but they were not as easy to work with.

    That's an awesome Pfalz, Peter!

Did you paint the ribs individually?

Very sharp -- I've always liked those black-outlined early Pfalz's. And the checkered scarf is a nice touch!

Yes. I cut some small pieces of masking tape and did one rib at a time. I touched them up with a .25mm pen.

Very nice and quite a lot of work gone into this and it shows, the black lines look very effective as do the wing warping wires.
Looking forward to seeing it fly at some point.

I have to throw in some Bavaria now and then as my grandmother (mother's side) was from Augsburg.

I'll have you know I get out almost very day - it's called Key Working!
If I didn't have to go, these would have been finished months ago.

    Thanks for the Rep!

I too thought these would be easy, especially after completing a few E.Is....how wrong I was!

Hope you "endeavour to persevere" with yours - I'm sure we'd all like to see them.
