Taking my first leap into the pool... some early kites for 1916 skies! They've been treated to a few coats of sealant... maybe another, and then some cleaning up and on to the first of my misadventures in painting!

Nice!
I look forward to seeing the finished articles.

Looks like you'll get the worm with all those early birds. Look forward to seeing them finished.
Nice interesting stuff there.

Just received notice that the part of my last order is on its way. Now I just need the decals I ordered from MISCMINI to get here. I think both should be here by Friday then I can get started.
Just finished this up yesterday. Now waiting for the Black powder starter box to arrive for some more. Meantime back to refurbishing a bunch of 15s I used to use 20 something years ago. Have started another thread on that project so will keep it there.
enjoy something different
And yes, I know the flag is missing, I just have not put it on yet.
Beautiful work, Ken. Simply beautiful.
Fantastic, Ken.
Your work on small figures is astounding.
I couldn't get that detail on 1:32
These are 28mm, my 15s are not near as detailed. Helps I wear a lens visor though...My eyes ain't what they used to be.
Great work Ken. Napoleonic period is one of my favourites These French line infantry look the bees knees
A very smart unit Ken.
I used to enjoy my Napoleonic days.

Great Napoleonics! I have done my share of 15mm (~9000) and would love to do some 25-28mm. They look awesome.
Understand Pete, have 2K plus painted and another 1K plus unpainted in 15mm. Mostly Old Glory though some of the early stuff was Mini Figs and TTG with a few Brit units of Battle Honours thrown in. Still have my Napoleons Battles 1st ed box and both expansion booklets. Soon as I get things spruced up may be dragging them down to the hobby store for a go. Or when my Black Powder set gets here read up on using 15's rather then 28's for the game.
You do not want to know how many Avlon Hill and SPI games I have stuffed in my closet. Panzer Leader, Panzer Blitz, Tactics II, Blitzkreig, Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich, and so on. Was a wargamer long before I discovered Minis. One of the first runs into historicals was GHQ Micro Armor tanks using Tobruk maps and rules. Back in the late 70's/Early 80's used to go to Judges Guild in Decatur ILL on weekends. Now they had a full blown sand table there, never seen another one since then.
Concerning the newer Nappys battles, Looking into finding a 3rd or 4th ed rules set just to see what differences there are (Who am I kidding, getting the bug again...sigh)
Outstanding work. Used to play a game called System 7 from back in the early 80's. Your mention those AH games reminds me of the ones I have. The first ones I bought were TACTICS and Gettysburg when they were the first two games they made. Thanks for the memories.
Great work Ken; reminds me of the Bavarian army in 15mm waiting....waiting....waiting....

System 7 was the first Nap rules I used. Ah, AH games, still have a load, along with SPI, Clash of Arms, Colombia, GMT, Compass, DG, New England Simulations... too many to count. (can't let the better half know the total!) Now it's minis...same sickness.
Still have all my System 7 stuff. All punched as they were well used. Most board games were AH and not sure how many of them I have. I remember when I bought Tactics and Gettysburg I paid 50 cents so that tells you how long I have had them.
So..trying to sort of get back on track... sort of...2 other AH games I still have are Richthofen's war and Luftwaffe. Still am trying to use the campaign from the first game to create one for WoG at the Hobby store.
As far as Nappy rules go, have Empire 4th ed sitting here next to me. Never played it though.
Another WW1 early bird, prepared for OTT DYM campaign. The Albatros CI by Colinwe/wow (Shapeways) with decals from here on the drome and from "Doms decals". The usual three coats of 3:1 PVA and water applied, although I didn't pay enough attention to the wing edges Not sure about the authenticity of the colours as I took them from an illustration in a book (Aircraft of World War I 1914 - 1918 by Herris and Pearson), but personally I like them despite that. All paints are Vallejo with the fuselage main colour a mix of Golden Brown (ie yellow ochre) and Olive Green. Underside is mainly white with little touches of Deep Yellow and Golden Brown etc etc.
Next up, I hope, the Gotha GI. Also there should have been a mini number "15" under the C110, but I couldn't face trying to fit that in - one day perhaps, when I get round to producing a lot more decals myself.
Very nice kite Mike. For the edges get a flex file (U shaped frame with a thin piece of sandpaper with loops on each end). It allows you to smooth rounded edges and wings.
Nice work on the C.I, Mike.
I will make do with Ares C.III myself.
Thanks for the tip Ken. I shall give that a whirl definitelyFor the edges get a flex file (U shaped frame with a thin piece of sandpaper with loops on each end)
Don't blame you Pete. I just like the excuse to paint another model. I'm really enjoying itI will make do with Ares C.III myself.
Nice airplane, Mike. It looks like some of your buildings took bomb damage.
So how many books are in your personal library?
Very nice Mike. I hope to do one before the campaign gets too far along.
Nice job Mike.
I too am very short on German two seaters.

Who in their right mind wants 10 Arados and 10 Walrus? Oh yes, its Dave.
Just put a couple of each together. The Walrus needs some struts adding to it (front tailplane support and top rear engine to top main plane) and the Arados etched brass cockpit canopy is a b***h to fold accurately. Also dont drop any of the transparent bits on the carpet as they are difficult to find again
I was wondering if the Trumpeter Kingfisher was the one Arii brought out some time back with a catapult, as they are similar.

Can't wait to see the finished planes David.
Great looking early Albatros, Mike.
And I like the looks of the floatplane project, Dave. Can't wait to see the finished product!
First, "In their right mind" - I have never been there, is it near Absentia?
Second, the kits are similar but different for sure, design, panel lines, assembly all different . . .
Who knows, I may need to do another 5 HMS Glorious or . . .
Here's the Walrus assembled:
Top view, showing addition of observers (1/200 figures from a company called Hermoli), scratch-built guns and the slid back rear position cover. Two pieces of thin plastic rod were driven through the top wing to the rear of the engine to become the missing rear struts to the top mainplane.
Underside view. The wheels provided were stripped of the undercart struts modelled in the 'down' position, the wheels thinned and inserted in the wheel wells, then new struts fabricated. Two tailplane struts were cut from plastic rod, as the kit only provided one pair of struts, not two. Hole is for ball bearing once the plane is finished.

Nice to see another make, to get a reference from Gunners.
I just started a "How to" for mine and will add to it tomorrow, and thereafter as it progresses.
And with that I hit the 36,000. Must have been a misspent youth.

No Dave it is because it is easier to post it to the "How to" Thread if it is not cluttered up with a lot of comments. I will open it once I have finished posting.
Thanks for the Rep,
Rob.

Really nice Mike. Again love the clouds.
Peter I haven't posted a HOW TO in some time so have get my old man's mind thinking HOW TO.
Good job Mike!
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
Brilliant Pete - That would be nice. It also means that the number three mission and its back up, which I am preparing, do not clash with yours by the sounds of itthinking of getting it into mission 2
Re the clouds Bob, I use them really to make the photos work better. I prefer that to sheets of white paper. Thanks for the comments guys
Grand job chaps.
Must get one of those then.
Which modellmaker's is that fine workmanship?
Rob.
