Default Coral Sea battle: holidays = time for Wings

Played a couple scenarios last night with a few friends.
The first saw each player take 4 aircraft, with the objective to sink the enemy carriers.
    Both sides set up

After I drew my third boom out of four planes things seemed to go in favour of the Japanese even though many of their bombers had taken smoke

However some severe errors lead to collisions that brought the balance back

Finally the US manage to down the last two enemy aircraft (one succumbs to the fire and the other takes shots from the wildcat behind it).

Victory goes to the US, with one direct hit on Shokaku and no hits on American warships, 4 remaining US planes with only one remaining Japanese fighter the IJN have no choice but to retreat.

Totally botched the order of the cards but heading out the door. I'll have to correct later. My apologies!

Should be good to go now.

    Thumbs up

    Well done Wes!
Our Games Club replayed the Battle of Midway a while back & it was good fun.

    Thanks Barry,
The few Midway scenarios I've seen on here we're the inspiration for this battle.
Unfortunately a couple of the guys felt it was too much controlling four planes and enjoyed the second match we played much better. The confusion is evident near the end of the game when a couple Japanese planes were brought down from colliding with their own. I'd say two machines is perfect and three's the limit if I ran it again. All in all a pretty fun time though.

That was a good game. Reminds me of Fighter Ace and their huge online carrier battles. Once an enemy fleet was located it was very hard to stay alive long enough to bomb it and just about impossible to escape. Great to see that happen to the Japanese here in WGS.

I've never played that before, sounds like a good game though. I gotta get a PC for the flight sims just a matter of budgeting.
For gameplay we didn't have the carrier's shoot AA but the destroyers and cruiser were more than enough. I think there were too few targets for them and if the planes come in piecemeal they just get chewed up one at a time. Definitely needs some tweaking for the next time(whenever that may be).
