For our weekly stoush I decided to play one of Carl Brisgamers scenarios. Number four - Two guns for Scaroni. The gist of it was that Scaroni in his Hanriot with an A Gun would fight a UFAG over the lines. Scaroni also had Acrobatic Pilot, Bullet Checker, Incendiary Bullets and Perfect Aim cards. This sounded a bit one sided to me so I substituted a Halberstadt CL.II thinking that at least the two seater had Immelmann capabilities to offset the Hanriot advantages. Windy Jack agreed to fly the Halberstadt.
So confident ...
No contest I thought.
Trying to get on the Halberstadt's six was not so easy and I got hit hard. Again and again and again.
In fact Windy hit me 10 times and I only managed to return ineffectual fire twice in the whole game.
I guess the moral of that sorry episode (for me anyway) was that overconfidence can be fatal and that two seaters should be treated with respect. Except for the two 90 degree turn cards the Hanriot has, the Halberstadt can turn inside the Hanriot. That makes getting on his six very problematic. Well done to Windy for giving me such a flying lesson. I was well and truly done like a dogs dinner.
