Blue Mediterranean Skies Mission #1

It is May of 1942, a squadron of Spitfires has recently been transported to the island of Malta. A pilot and his wingman are on a patrol of the island. Pilot Officer Reade F. Tilley and his wingman, Flight Lieutenant Henry Orwell, are flying on the northern side of the island.


They sight a group of Italian planes heading toward Malta.


Orwell: "5 bandits straight ahead, sir! Looks like 2 Stukas, 2 Falcos, and a D 5.20."
Tilley: "I see them, Henry."


Tilley: "Try to get around the edge, Lieutenant."


Orwell: "Looks like they are trying to get in our way, sir!"
Tilley: "Then mix 'em up, Henry."


Orwell: "I didn't know we were going to fly straight through, because I'm taking damage!"


Tilley: "Continue through, and then flip and give them the gun."


Orwell: "We are hitting them, sir."
Tilley: "Don't get ahead of yourself, Henry."


Tilley: "I'm going down! Get home, Henry!"



But, the valiant Henry will not go home. He flips and fires at the D 5.20.


And then a Falco, before being shot down himself.



The game ends with both Spitfires shot down, and the Italian planes barely damaged.

A sort of fun and relatively short game.

Use altitude and an oblique attack if you can. then get behind them.
It may even up the odds a bit Nate.

Nice AAR but I think I would have tried for an attack from the rear rather than a frontal assault. Formidable wall of guns those Spits flew into. Always like to see Italians in action too.

We did that game and then we switched sides. And then.... Can't tell you what happens next because I have not written the AAR yet.
(But it did not go well for the Italians)

We did collisions, but we have a house rule that when some one draws a 0 the other plane draws a 0 too.
