    Question Crew Skill Cards

I'm curious if Ares/Nexus produced skill cards for all the skills from the various products. I have some of the cards but I am missing some things listed in the RAP (at least) and wasn't sure if they had been produced or not.

    So far I have:

Lightfooted, Precision Bombardier, Nimble Gunner, Double Ace, Super Ace, Strong Constitution, Intuitive, Daredevil, Height Control, Nimble Pilot, Lucky Pilot, Good at Escaping, Weapon Specialist, Fire Expert, Bullet Checker, Technical Eye, Emergency Pilot, Experienced Pilot, Itchy Trigger Finger, Perfect Aim, and Sniper.

    Thanks,

    Joe

Yes they have all been produced Joe, if that's your question ?
Have a look here if you haven't already:
    https://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sh...al-Rules-lt-lt
It will tell you what they are, the detail & what set/model they came with, and/or, where they are mentioned.
At least as best I could figure out at the time.
Hopefully, if the scenarios book ever gets published it will contain them all too.
Also in a Word doc here https://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/do...o=file&id=2485

Yep, that was what I was asking, thanks. So the next question, does anyone have scans of the cards I am missing?

This is not a game in which you have to possess the official cards in order to use a skill, Joe. The cards are just a reminder that the crew member has that skill and what it entails. You could make your own cards by typing the words into a word processor and printing them out on cardboard.

according to andrea all skill/ability cards are going to be reprinted in the campaign pack. i have no idea how soon we can expect that though.

The other thing that the RAP has are tokens for the different skills listed in it. These were to be used as reminders that skills were in use, before individual cards were printed.

Not as good as cards, but they work, sort-of. I have a problem remembering the rules, let alone the exceptions that skills throw into the mix. I get most of the way through a game, and suddenly see the extra card beside my console, realizing I've missed a few opportunities. D'oh!

It might help if you list what you're missing Joe.

Hmm, thats the thing Dave, I’m not sure! I’ll go under the assumption everything has been produced and gen up a list.

With luck the cards will be reproduced, one day, maybe...

True, but it would be kinda nice to have cards if they exist.

I gave you a link to what's out there so you should be able to work it out from that

I made some ace skill chits (from the Rap) that are more obvious than the ones provided. You can get them 'HERE'. I printed them on full sheet label and stuck it to a piece of card stock.

I haven't yet done the newer crew skills. Soon.

Thanks, that's the doc I'm working from! I'd downloaded that puppy a few months ago. Again, wasn't sure that every skill had a printed card that went along with it.

So, going under the assumption every skill listed everywhere has a card, I'm missing:

    Acrobatic Pilot.
    Chivalrous Aptitude.
    Team Coordination.
    Expert Trainer.
    Incendiary Bullets.
    Photo Expert.
    Shadower.
    Sharp Eye.
    Balloon Buster.
    Perfect Bombardier.

That seems to be it for Skill Cards. Anything else from the list are optional rules for aircraft and rookies.

Thanks for the link Peter. I'll check it out.

All of these are available with the models listed Joe so you should be able to pick them up if no one has spares -

    Acrobatic Pilot - (s.9 - WGF122C Nieuport 11; WGF121B/C Phönix D.I)(s.3a - WGF117A/C Nieuport 17; WGF118C Albatros D.III)
    Chivalrous Aptitude.(s.3a - WGF117A Nieuport 17)
    Team Coordination.(s.9 - WGF122B Nieuport 11)
    Expert Trainer. (s.3a - WGF118A Albatros D.III)
Incendiary Bullets... Don't think this has a card - not strictly a skill
    Photo Expert. (s.3a - WGF206A RAF R.E.8; WGF205B Ufag C.I)
    Shadower. (s.3a - WGF117B Nieuport 17)
    Sharp Eye. (s.9 - WGF209A Sopwith 11/2 Strutter)
    Balloon Buster. (s.9 - WGF122C Nieuport 11)
    Perfect Bombardier. (s.3a - WGF205B Ufag C.I)

Take a look at Bob's (skystalker) excellent complete listing document to match them up with named pilot.

So they only came with the models. I had thought they were released like the other skill cards as well.

Not yet. There is a hope they will come with the scenarios book if it ever gets produced.
There was WGF701A WW1 Ace & Skill Cards Promo Deck that gave you pilots & their skill cards
There was WGF702A WW1 Aces - Career Deck that gave you pilots & their skill cards
There was a Crew Skills Deck that came with the Giants KS that gave you generic crew skills ie not assigned to a specific pilot
There were pilots & their skill cards that came with series 3a & 9 models as well as Optional Rule cards.
Maybe more new ones will accompany subsequent series reprints - like series 1 & 10 in 2019 ?

Hopefully someone who has bought multiples for repaints will be able to help you out.

This was an attempt to make easy printable items, sized to business cards, for local demo games. I have put them in a Word template and printed onto pre-perforated business card sheets. Then, handed them out to players, not caring if they went away, or came back.

So, at this time, I haven't considered doing any others. Ares is currently printing these, sporadically, in Plane Packs, so putting cards on our forum could be considered IP infringment.

OK. But what you've already done could also be considered IP infringement...?

One Ace card I certainly won't be needing.

Now a fire extinguisher, or sprinkler system would be most appreciated.

    Oh, yes! It is.

Only the sizing and intent is marginally different. My only defense in this case is that I am using the output to stimulate interest in the game, and draw in new hobbyists.

I have been waiting for the request to remove them, actually.

Really? As they are no longer produced I wouldn’t think it was a big deal. I mean these guys certainly don’t seem like the jerks from GW!

I think you should make your own. Windy Jack made plus 1 counters and I did some Lewis gun counters for when we play limited ammo rules. Any rule you want to use or make up can be printed up on card or paper and laminated really. No limits to your imagination.

Intellectual property rights are still in effect, whether the owner is currently using the product, or not. Being 'in print' really has no bearing on someone other than the property owner wanting a product, or printing their own.

And, Ares is currently printing skill cards. Their marketing plan requires people to buy planes to get them. Like maneuver decks, and buying RAPS to get damage decks.

It is how Ares has decided to make money and produce miniatures. Ares allows quite a few things to be posted on this Forum of which, IMHO, other companies would be very intolerant. I think I am not getting 'cease and desist' orders because I am actively using the stuff I produce to demonstrate their product, and promote their games. There is just enough spin on what I do they choose not to comment.

I also have to tone down my efforts so as to not impact their marketing plan, and 'kill the golden goose' by making it unprofitable for them to make the stuff they produce.

It would be nice if Ares put out Ace Skill decks, separate maneuver and damage decks, etc... but there are still minis in warehouses that aren't moving, and that is a cash flow thing that slows, if not outright prevents, production of new minis.

There are cards out there, but you might have to buy a plane or two to get a specific card. Perhaps like in X-Wing, where Fantasy Flight put the very desirable 'Auto Thruster' upgrade in a dud ship pack, knowing they would sell many, many copies of a ship no-one wanted to fly, but from which they desperately wanted the upgrade card?

So they actually are still in production. I assumed that like the Ace sets and Crew Skill cards they were OOP.

And I much prefer Ares to FF for the very reason that I would NEVER buy a model/figure/booster for a single card just to be competitive. That is again a very scummy GW style thing to do. Man, can’t stand that company.

Ares plans to put out a Campaign & Scenario Pack (sometime), as I am part of the play test group. In that set, I hope, is a complete set of Ace Skill cards, including some new campaign skills.

So, yes, along with individual Airplane Packs with skill cards appropriate to the pilot of the particular plane, the Ace Skills are being printed. Just not in a separate bundles that were really done as promotional things.

Seems like they'd be well-served to eliminate the inventory and distribution problems and offer these skill cards on a print-on-demand service like drivethrucards.com. In fact, not a bad way to offer extra maneuver and damage decks too. I purchased a deck for an unrelated game recently, and the quality is excellent.

120 kph forward airspeed, flames coming back in your face. I don't think the cold would be the issue. The flames would get you, and the sprinkler system wouldn't have sufficient pressure to get the fluid to the source of the fire.

In fact, it would probably do more moistening the pilot, and lower the flamability of the clothing, if the heat didn't ruin the hose.

Coming from X-Wing I started out wanting every card and was not very pleased when they came out with different abilities in different versions of the same plane. I got over that quickly, this isn't X-Wing (thank goodness) and now I've printed Flash's ability sheet and keep it with my kit. The only thing missing is Adrea's suggested point values which Flash said he doesn't want to add. We can of course. I no longer care if I have the cards or not.

Thanks to Flash for creating the list and keeping it up to date. Great list.

i would imagine the pucker factor would increase the pressure. would it be enough? i guess it depends on how much you had to drinl just prior to take off lol!
