Mike, will it have a drawbridge?
Mike, will it have a drawbridge?
So how many books are in your personal library?
Yep. Indeed it shall, hopefully with a means of raising and lowering it, strong enough to be used by a five year old Sorry, no commissions Too many Shapeways aircraft to paint, and I do now have to start on a shield for a five year old maiden, who seems to be into swords and stuff !!!!!will it have a drawbridge?

Hmmm...12 to 14 Ga Alum rings on the chain in a 4 in 1 pattern...check
leather looks like about 6 Oz on a 2 or 4 oz backing...check
Fur looks like that fake stuff you can get at Jo Anns....check
Foam sword...hmmm...got one in the basement just like it.
Horse...ahh...got a few cats almost that big...smile
Yep...with the right patterns I could make that stuff easy enough.
Oh I do love that. If my grandaughter sees this photo she'll really want that. My son is a cavalry re-enactor too, so the pony shouldn't be a problem. But chain mail and leather oooooo! Is the chain mail metal and if so rings or riveted? Now riveted would be spectacular, but given the young swordmaiden will grow out of it fairly quickly I'd say probably rings is also fantasticWell, swordmaidens need to be encouraged.
Now back in the days of yore, I did do this on horseback myself - boy did I enjoy that - we did Hastings a couple of times too.
But I digress - sorry! Back to the castle - There you go Robert. The hinges are fabric (couldn't find any leather suitable), glued and tacked with chopped down tacks. All is now done bar Sanding and varnishing. I do hope its ready for santa to deliver
Picture two shows the Main Keep entrance plus seperate steps for access; pic three is all the bits including steps for the main wall, a base for the keep and the top floor for the keep. Everything is seperate, so its going to be interesting to see how the young ones put it all together
Sigh would have loved to do that one, I have done Pennsic war here in the US for the last 30 plus years. Used to do the heavy infantry thing and still have my armor, shields, ect. Just gained the weight of my armor in personal belt armor these days...sigh. Still do merchanting as a chain/leather worker making and selling the stuff.

Pic is about 10 years old but you get the idea
And I thought doing ACW was cool. Karl I love that photo. So great to see younger people getting into doing and learning history.
Started on my Spitfire project and hope to have it done this week.
Hey Dave, how do you trim those lozenge decals? Before, after, during installation?
Joe, never been to Florida. Did the Michigan Ren fair about 30 years ago though. Mostly do local events (Michigan, Northern Ohio, and rarely Northern Indiana) And then camp Pennsic for 2 weeks to relax every year. Getting harder every year to do the Pennsic thing though.
Wonderfully inspirational! Thanks for the pics and details . . .
OK so where is the moat ? Great job.
Excellent castle
It's not that kind of castle, Bob

Just wait until the boys get hold of it. They might just add a moat themselves - in the living room. Daughter's problem thenOK so where is the moat ?
Beter remind them that a lot of castles had a dry moat

Aah yes, perhaps that's an idea my daughter would prefer
Great looking castle! I'm sure the kids will love it!
That's glorious - great model of the Dornier - what an immense aircraft by comparison.
Great Dornier model! Same scale as the EIII?
Wow... that's a beast!
That is a beast of a plane. What would the PAN AM Clipper look like?
Finished my Spitfire project. Something different so here goes.
Egyptian Spitfires. As always AIM planes and a special request by Kevin (MISCMINI) for the decals. I have a set of Arabic numbers so may have to add them to the planes. I got the idea from a book I have that just has color plates of aircraft from the first ones till now.
Looking nice, Bob. Going to do a little '48 war now?

Unreal. Such a collection and great work. One of those Clipper's would good for a Wake Island game.
They are 1/144" scale, but I do have a few 1/200" scale in resin yet to do . . .
Like the Spitfire project Bob
And those Pan Am Clippers are something else I don't suppose many members have one of them let alone four
Thanks for the comments. as always the pictures show flaws but the distant pictures look ok. I have another project in mind but after the holidays for that.
Yes, Ken... Those were some good days!
Miss you.

Yep Chris, Have to get together at an event sometime or drop by Michigan Toy Soldier shop in Royal Oak for a WoG game. We play roughly once a month and tonight was our game night with 7 players.
Great job, I haven't had the heart to redo these, I have a dozen so wrong so many ways, the Shapeways were less work.
Mine is still in the box so just looked at it and your looks much better. Good job.
