Default Combat Glider rules and scenarios - Mission 1

As mentioned elsewhere, I have been working for some weeks on rules, collaterals, and scenarios for using combat gliders in WGS. Here is the first full rules test AAR.

Thank you for the great A.A.R., Bob! At some point would you consider publishing details of the scenario rules, please?

    Excellent job Bob.
That's a first, and I can't wait for the second.
How effective were the decoys at distracting the AA fire?

Of course, once I make the edits required, before mission two.

UPDATE - the rules & scenarios have been uploaded, and I will link once it clears the Moderation Queue.

PS: Anyone know how long that will take?

    Rob.
The decoys are "fake" Landing Zones which are placed face down along with the three real ones, to be revealed after all other elements are placed but before the first maneuver is made. It is part of the chess game of the setup. There are tradeoffs for the Glider player - keep LZs together and close to the board edge and shorten the potential time under fire, or spread them out and try to route around potential AA fire. In the test scenario, I went for the short/direct route, which might have worked better if not for the BOOM right before the end....
In the AAR, I was pretty much under constant AA fire and only changing altitudes provided some measure of safety.

Off to a great start, Bob. This looks really good.

Well that's something quite different ! I'd suggest use of the solitaire AAA rules rather than the placement of tokens might make that easier.
You could play with the flight time by allowing gliders to trade Action Points for turns - the less turns, the further it can travel ? So you trade alt for distance. Might make it too complex but might change things up a bit. Good to see your progress with this project.

This just gets better and better.
I'm looking at the option for the German invasion of Crete as an opperation for my Med campaign.

Look at Zvevda for C-47s and Ju.52s; the C-47 shows up as the Li-2 (USSR).

    Hmm.....Zvezda-USA's website has expired???

All of the cards required to execute the four supplied missions are now available in files, listing updated in the thread below (or above, depending on your settings!)

I'm off to the continent with my living history group this afternoon, following in the footsteps of SSGT Robert M Bowen, C/401 Glider Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne.
Will begin expansion 1 of rules with JU52s, DFS 230s, and a couple of new missions following my return.

PS: C-47s available as Hasegawa and Zvezda kits, CG4 as paper models or via Shapeways. On my backlog are resin CG-4 kits. All in good time.

Wow, what a lot of work and an excellent result. I'm still trying to focus on the PTO and want to get back into my solo campaign (only been 2 years since I started it) But these look like a lot of fun and the lure of ETO is strong.
