WW2 German Fallschirmjäger's (paratroopers) used to jump into battle from Junkers JU52 transport planes, to avoid an accident on landing the paratroopers only carried personal light weight weapons like the world famous Luger pistol, most of the heavy weapon were placed inside a "Drop canister", Essentially a metal box on a parachute with weapons which also contained a set of wheels that could be attached in minutes, thus allowing the paratroopers or "Green Devils" (the name given to them by the Allied forces) to drag the canisters behind them.
Obviously the was wide range of weapons to be dropped inside the canisters, so the paratroopers used Black stripes and letters to identify the contents from a distance, Light weight mortar, FG 42 ( Fallschirmjägergewehr) a automatic rifle with the firepower of a light machine gun, Medical supplies, etc.
I am given to understand from a local bookseller that a book has been published on "German WW2 Drop canisters" now comes the problem, He cannot recall the name of the book, has anyone come across a book with Drop canisters identification marking information? I am making a 1/6 scale diorama, and could use the info
