Thread: London - Daylight Raid

    Default London - Daylight Raid

This is the Base near Ghent broadcasting to Command. I think it is time to end daylight bombing and attack at night. Too much loss of man and machine. Morale suffering - over!

A historical note here: Staaken bombers did not participate in daylight bombing as best I can tell, but how can one have a bombing mission and not use those Beasts!

Our battle lasted 3 hours, two of which were spent just trying to traverse the Big Blue Table and reach London. We kept rules simple for some the less initiated Entente pilots (no altitude), but it was fun day. Matt Milligan has posted some of his own Photos from the days action on his facebook account. So Friends of Matt, be on the lookout. Thanks again to our host, Games Plus and this is Willi signing Off!

Great AAR! Is the Schoeller Staaken repainted in dark blue, or is this the original colour? On the ares product image the plane colour looks much brighter.

Thanks for the kind word and the dark blue color is how the Staaken came out of the Box.

Great Giant action Willi - well done all involved in this epic clash of arms. Hopefully we'll see an allied response in due course, Ca3's & HP O/400's !

I was able to get 144 scale figures from Japan. While up close you can tell that they a modern flight crew, there are enough that can be modified. I have used them on the Gotha, Caproni, shapeways prints and even Ares.

    Notes from a Staaken pilot:
With no sideslips available in the maneuver deck, getting lined up on a target early is important. I tried to turn and come in from the flank, putting me on a better return route, but it ended up, due to my mediocre piloting, settling for a partial hit on a tertiary target.
If I were doing it over, risk the flak and line up farther back for a straight in and put the eggs in the basket!

I will keep that in mind for the upcoming Over the Trenches final mission.

Agreed, the closest to a side-slip you'll get is a left/right or right/left combo, so you may need room to pull that off.

Good report. Looks like you had better luck with your mission than I had with mine, although I had the same problem with getting my bomber lined up on the target.

    A most impressive presentation William.
I have been attempting to get those 144 figures for several years.
    Well done.
