Mansfield Wargames Club.
Balloon is busting out all over.
Or maybe not.Here are a couple of games we played at Mansfield on Tuesday evening between Gaptain Kiwi and McDorf. I adjudicated and ran the Archie.
The venue. looks like a converted church because it is. The shop is in the Sanctuary at the top of the picture bathed in that holy light. Very fitting.
The protagonists. Baron Captain von Red Kiwi attacking with two of the Aces attributes. I forget which but it don't matter. Captain G McDorf RFC. Just himself, but only just.
The objective. My best-est balloon. Touch it at your peril. Two AA and one MC guns to defend.
The Red Baron Kiwi and sidekick approach over No man's land.
The laconic McDorf lurks.
First exchange to McDorf.
First shot on the Baron's wingman.
That's a good start my boy.
Too much jubilation leads to a
"You never jam a ram moment."
Oops! (We found out later that McDorf drew a 0 C for this collision)
A little re-locating was now taking place, as I wound my precious down as fast as I could.
And now my Senior moment.
I fire my Archie for the first time at the point I think the Baron will be in two moves.
Wrong! Blow McDorf's wingman out of the air. C card Bang!
Not to worry readers. A couple of moves later and Captain McDorf triumphs with a passing stray shot.
The Baron is down.
It turned out that early collision had unloaded a C 10 onto him.
For those who like a happy ending my balloon landed without so much as a scratch on it.
