Thread: Battle of Britain and Late-War Interception in Zirndorf

Default Battle of Britain and Late-War Interception in Zirndorf

Yesterday I met Christian (LINDINHO), a new Forum Member from a nearby town for WGF gaming.

Mostly focused on WGF he has a small collection of Hurricanes, Messerschmitt & Stukas.

So we decided to start with an advanced rule dogfight with two Bf.109s form the starter set and two of his beloved 303 Squadron Hurricanes over the Channel.

Oriented on the point value list for WGF planes we decided to use the "limited ammo rule" for the Messerschmitt fighters.

Played our game without haste, it took a while till a single Hurricane returned victorious to the Island.

Due to a good maneuvering on both sides it was hard to get into a close range shooting position, but I really enjoed the "limited amm rule". I used Euro Cent coins for the cannon ammo.

The second mission was a coop attack versus two formation flying B17s. Christian choosed a FW190D & me Hartmann's Bf. 109K with additional underwing gunpods.

We concentrated on the leading bomber and filled it with lead.

Exactly: Christian filled him with lead...

I showed a masterpiece of maneuvering and stranded in this position.

There aren't much less comfortable positions then between two fortresses on same altitude and no option to fire at one of them.

So I catched 16 hitpoints and was lucky to deal out a single punch with with regular armament and the extra guns.

Not bad for a single short range shot and the 3cm autocannon did not jam. Anyways they shot me out of the sky and Hartman started a formation flight with the leading fortress to the ground.

Christian damaged the remaining bomber up to 30 points and was shot down, too.

At all we had a great time and I hope we'll meet again in the future for some WoG gaming.

What a classic fight that was. I forgot how nice those birds look as mine do not come out to play much these days. Thanks for posting.

A couple of real good AARs.
You just showed that with some luck you can take down a B17 with just 2 planes.
    Congratulations.

It was Hartmann’s first sortie in Zirndorf too, as far as I can remember.

Yes, but we really brought some firepower on the table.

Those fortress twin cal.50s are nasty at close distance.

Great AAR. Did you paint the B-17, "A Bit of Lace" red where it was yellow?
