As you can see, we have a date for a next convention in Prague! Please, note the second weekend in April, book hotels and flights or buy bus tickets.

You probably noticed that convention name won't be "Prague Summer Con" anymore. The reason is simple: another person has a trademark on this "brand" (combination of Prague + Con) so we changed the name to this one. It relates partly to the game (Wings) and our city and past conventions (Prague). Hope you will like it.

The third interesting thing is that we should invite a L&L member. It is too early to say more or be sure about something, but we will see.

You both are there :sir: Crossing fingers to have you both here!

By the way, it would be nice to bring a mission or two from the other side of Dover Cliffs, what do you think? We can discuss it in Doncaster

Thank you Daniel & Kubajs for organizing this unique event, again.

I would offer to runs some SoG missions* next year and some A-H/Italian WGF missions (if needed).

*max. 2 scenarios - mx. 8 players - in a row if possible - Saturday please, because of the space.

Of course, I'll ask Mario & Markus for their presence.

    Dear Colleaugues,

Thank you for keeping our excellent Con alive, I like new name you've proposed.

Unfortunately we have to skip 2019 edition of our excellent Con . Darek has final exams after his secondary school and the timing for them has been just announced for 15-17 April 2019.

I hope you will have nice meeting, count us in for 2020 edition

    All the best,

Sorry chaps, I think I will give it a miss this time round. If it was a couple of weeks later and the Aviation Museum was open I would be all over it, but it is a long way to come and mucho expense just to push toy planes about for a couple of days.

Instead I think I will be venturing onto Andrzej's home turf, where they tend to keep their aviation museums open most of the year.

I am sure a good time will be had by all, and Paul might even get to the pilsner factory.

Noted both, thank you for your reply.

To be honest, Prague museum is a shame. I am ashamed about it, because many airplanes stand right under the sky and rain does it's work. At least F-4 Phantom FGR.2 is under work of re-painters. I think a Polish museum would be better experience.

I'm sure I will support Sven on the Southern front with one more WGF mission. I must consult it first with him to avoid the same type of the mission.
And another idea came to me last month. It will be a classic Hollywood story called "Fly boys 2" => American Breguets in the bombing mission.

    Ok, I‘m curious.

I have something in mind like a flight of UFAGs attacking an Italian Aerodrome & interception of Italian bombers.

    Hi Friends,

    - pleas sign me in on the list
    - new name "Wings of Prague" is fine
    - what is the meaning of: "L&L member"?
    - how many scenarios you expect from me? I have pre-prepared 2 in Burma:
    a) attack on the port in the mountain area - with real mountains
    b) battle for the Charlie airfield (Chindist's operation Thursday)

I am looking forward impatiently for this great event.

    greetings to all

You are there, Michal! You made my day

L&L member will be a chosen US or CA member who will be invited for Prague. It is a special programme and cost are covered from the Aerodrome lottery. I was L&L in 2016, Sven in 2014 and Andrzej 2013.

Noting two Burma mission - I will definitely play at least one!

I added Lex, Mario, Markus and Mike yesterday - you are on the list

Mike: Do you want to add Mrs. OldGuy59?

Rob: Are you going to come again with your lady? I think I lost you somewhere in the backgroud.

    Daniel,
I wouldn't add the Better Half to any list that suggested Wings of Glory. She tolerates my addiction. Barely.

She is intrigued with the idea of exploring Prague, though. And her hobby is Stained Glass. Which doesn't really survive well in luggage on airplanes.

Her latest piece: a 22" circle of stained glass for our back yard.

As a very important note, I am alergic to beer and some wines. The tragedy of my existence.

Further to my suggestion of a scenario, opposing squadrons for Vimy Ridge: N0. 60 Squadron and Jasta 11.

Custom No. 60 Squadron planes: Nieuport 17s. My choice for three aces could be Ball, Bishop, and Alan Duncan Bell-Irving. The first two don't need introductions, but A.D. Bell-Irving was a native of Scotland (most of my ancestors were from Scotland), and was in Canada before the Great War. He is promenantly featured in the Comox Air Force Museum as a "Local" British Columbian. These might need a few decals and a bit of silver paint.

For Jasta 11: Albatros D.IIIs. The three German aces could be von Richthofen (WGF118C: no repaint needed), Karl Allmenroder (top wing repaint), and perhaps Otto Brauneck (top wing repaint).

For the Photo-Reconn plane, it should be a BE2c, or two. We could throw in a few more randome Nieuports and Albatroses for more participants. As for a period custom Vimy Ridge map, I'll see whether there were any archival photos I can render. This would have to be printed in Prague, or Europe, though.

    Sounds like an intersting scenario.

Think we can equip you with most of the needed planes except the repaints.

Expect (plan for) 12 -14 players.

Prag is definitely a good place to buy such stuff.

OK, I will tell to my father (boss of malthause) we probably won't come.

    Our ideas for you:

    • We offer a trip to borderlands for the artillery fortification "Hůrka". It is a whole day trip: probably Wednesday or Thursday. It is also possible to do it on half of your journey from Opole to Prague (it is right in the middle). Unfortunately, this is mostly men's bussiness...
    • We propose at least one full day for sightseeing in Prague. I can prepare a circle especially for you and your wife - long exactly you want with several "hidden places" (for common turists). Kubajs also lives here for all his life, se he is able to show you something special. I propose this for Friday.
    • In case of a spare day, I love Kutná Hora town - just an hour by a train from Prague.

The only thing you must do is: Choose what you want

As an adjunct to this message Mike, Eileen would not be averse to accompanying Donna around old Prague. The girls had a great time a couple of years ago. St Vitus Cathedral has some very fine stained glass, and there is also a lot of Bohemian glass products about from which to take inspiration.

As for wine and beer, what are you like with Gin!

As noted above, glass isn't really a good thing to transport by suitcase/airplane, but looking at old masterpieces would be good. Shopping would be nice, too.

Gin. Hmmm... Momma said if I couldn't say anything nice... Pimms and ginger-ale?

Nearly centered in the map is the Canadian War Monument to the Battle of Vimy Ridge (white triangle inside the red square). The red square is the grid of 15, 16, 21, 22 at the bottom of the black&white map in Post #40. I used that to help scale the Google Earth map.

Now I can do some colourization for a map, and blend the trench image into it. And with the size of the aerial image, I can actually make a good play area if I use 2000 ft as a target.
