Yesterday Darek (on the right) and me plus our wives went to watch the newest 303. Battle of Britain - the movie.
If you have not had an opportunity to watch it, I can highly recommend it. The story is nicely filmed, the characters are deeper than one should expect (Jan Zumbach is the main one), the planes (!) are close to perfect: Hurries, Bf 109 E (not spanish Buchons, like in BoB from the 60-ies) and Do-17s. Combat scenes are really, really gooood.

Poland 9 August 2018 (Warsaw, Poland) (premiere)
    Poland 17 August 2018
    UK 7 September 2018
    Ireland 7 September 2018

(and BTW, the listing for English-language is "Hurricane"

    Most interesting Andy.
I really enjoyed the potted biographies of the pilots. it told me more than I knew about them after the BoB.

I too was disappointed to see that it isn't getting a US release.
Hopefully we can get a streaming or DVD release without too long of a wait.

They probably consider it a "Niche" market movie, meaning Europe and any country with ties to England and the RAF during WWII.
It sounds like it would be interesting and I would want to see it.

Ok I just watched the trailer and Hurricane, which is about the 303 Squadron, is to be released around September 1 in the U.S.

If only the film-makers had made the main characters American they might have been able to release it in the States!

That's great news David as I should be able to source a copy from them as no sign over here yet.

I just checked Amazon and I see it listed now. Unfortunately only the region 2 format is available so can't play it in the US/Canada.
Hopefully it will get released for region 1 soon!

Check your player. It may be region free so then it wouldn’t matter. Also, do an internet search on your player as well. In the early days there were codes to nuke the region restrictions. Or, watch it on your computer. Not ideal but better than nothing if you really want to see it.

Thanks to David (flash) I got a copy of the movie via Amazon UK. They no longer will post to Australia as we have our own Amazon here but no sign of the movie on their website here.
I really enjoyed it & echo the comments about the aerial combats.
It is worth doing a Wiki search to find out what happened to the pilots who survived the War.

Is Hurricane the same movie as 303 Squadron?

  22. #22

Gary, strictly speaking, the answer is "No". If you consult www.IMBb.com you will find that there are two movies with similar names, both made in Polish and English.

There is '303 Bitwa o Anglie' a.k.a. 'Hurricane' or 'Hurricane: Squadron 303' , which is the one Andrzej introduced at the start of this thread and is the one I watched and there is a different movie on the same subject called 'Dywizjon 303' a.k.a. 'Squadron 303', which has different actors and director etc..

I have only seen the British one Gary.
Doubt the Polish production will make it over here.
Even the Brit one has not yet been released in Aust.
I really enjoyed the DVD Dave got for me & would like to see the Polish one for comparison.

Thanks for the heads up Dave. That is one to get.
I'm just reading my book on 303 again. I hope it is as good as the DVD Hurricane.
