Apologies for not managing to pop by the table during the day, once the punters were let in I didn't stray far from our booth. I did how ever manage to grab a few photos of the Shadow Warriors Tripods and Triplanes demo table.

The rest of these, plus a few more general shots including a timelapse shot from our booth can be found in the Flickr album.

Really enjoyable event guys - the usual heaving mass of bodies that kept the place "warm" despite its size Tim ran the WW1 games in the morning and was already offloading his supply truck when I arrived at 8.30pm. The table was always well occupied and the games were a lot of fun. Naturally, I flew an RE8 alongside another and an SE5 or two in support, against Tim and his horde of Dr1s. I believe we went down something horrible to nil and personally I didn't last more than a few turns Ah well, c'est la mort, or is that meant to be vie?
John and Ruth Biggles ran the afternoon games - a series of WW2 actions over the desert. I didn't last any longer in the first of those games either. Flying a Kitty Hawk I believe I was shot down by a combination of three ME109s inside five minutes But I did manage to survive once - in the very last game, flying an ME109. Perhaps I should change sides

Rob (Rabscallion) provided the rest of the support during the day, which was a lot of fun, except I didn't find anything to spend my pocket money on. Silly, because, needless to say, Tim managed to sniff out the one supplier of Wings merchandize But I did collect my Deepcut 6' x 4' mouse mat complete with image of fields and clouds. Lovely - thanks to the guys at Deepcut.

Sorry - no pics at all, but I am assuming there will be one or two eventually posted by the others. Good to see David Manley, Neil (NeilCFord) and Steve (Guntruck) there too, although only briefly, as they were involved in other games - yep, the various vehicles look just as impressive in the flesh as they do in the photos. Congrats Steve. Beautiful work! Sorry not to see Adie and son. I may have been on my wandering break if you turned up guys, so sorry not to meet you. But if, in fact, you couldn't make it, well here's to the next occassion.

And that's it from me folks. Thanks to all involved - really enjoyed the day!

Ruth and I turned up at around 930 having been delayed by a couple of 50mph sections on the M1 to find Mike wandering round sans wristband, expecting to be turfed out any minute, and Tim in the final throws of setting up the tables for his WWI games

if memory serves they were already converts, and I believe one of them may be a fellow forumite.
in this next picture Mike is ably assisting some new players, while Rob appears to be musing pensively about his next choice of cards, while in the background the multitude throng

A great day -really enjoyed it - All of the participants I spoke to seems to be enjoying themselves very much. i predominantly play WW1 but really enjoyed the WW2 session as well as a bit of scoring which was almost as good as playing! As a bonus, I was 'led' astray by Tim and picked up a couple more planes for my collection. Thanks all.

I popped by the table during the afternoon while a WW2 game was in play and had a chat with Tim (Flying Helmut). It was great to see the table full and everyone enjoying themselves while I also drooled over Tim's small (cough, cough) collection of aircraft.
Well done to all involved at the table.

In the afternoon, after the splendid games Tim had put on, it was my turn.
We move from the Western Front to the Western Desert.
I got off to a slow start with the camera, so we join the fun about a quarter of the way into the first game.

The map is upside down in this view, with the Mediterranean coast around Tobruk at the bottom.
The Axis are mostly attacking from the right with the British flying in from the left, and the lone italian taking off from Tobruk itself.

Ruth took charge of the scoring using a system we adopted last year for ensuring 1. we don't lose any chits, 2. nobody makes any mistakes when adding up and 3. its easier to see how fast the total damage is mounting up.
As you can see, Mike has just crashed his Kittyhawk, shot down in bits.

The allies had 3 Hurricane MkIIBs with the 6 gun wings, and 2 Kittyhawks which kept the scoring simple, BBB/BA attack and 18 damage for all the aircraft

after an hour of play, the final score for game two

We played three games in all, each roughly an hour long. Game two saw the most visitor participation, we had players who were familiar with WGF and wanted to try WGS, players who had "seen it at other shows but not had the time" and players who had never seen it "but it looks interesting". Several players stayed for all three games, various children did what children always do in this game and butchered the adults.
We finished the last game just before the show officially ended, and all agreed it had been up there with the best shows of recent times.

Another year another failure to attend, I really must do something about my wife insisting on booking so many holidays... mmm or maybe not, lol
However she is keen to have a bit of a spa away thing with our daughters next spring and is offering me Prague as a makeweight... so might finally get to that at least
