    Default Using 1/300 models

    As I already had a load of 1/300 models, WW1 and WW2, long before the advent of Wings, I used them instead of buying yet more new figures. To keep it very simple I ignored height rules and put the models on the airplane cards. Makes it easy for newcomers to play, though not as visually appealing. Still gives a fun game though.

    Default Using 1/300 Models - more

    So having found a load of plastic bases tucked away in a drawer, and having discovered the joys of tiny magnets, I tried using them for my 1/300 models. Worked out well and looks better than cards, but still not using heights. By a happy coincidence the rear sides of the bases give the same firing arc as the aircraft cards.

    The only trouble is that I can't get the manouevre cards I need, as they now only come with the aircraft models, which I obviously don't wish to buy. So only playing with Spits, Hurricanes and Me109/110s at present. The P47,P51,FW190,Mosquito,Beaufighter et al remain in the hangar, unfortunately.

    Are you scaling down the manoeuvre cards you have, or using them as is?

    Nice! They do look better in the air. The plane size doesn't matter, the card/base does.

    To get bases for planes that Ares doesn't produce, I went to a local hardware store and bought a clear plexiglass sheet. My father in law used his jig saw to cut it into pieces that were the dimensions of a card and then drilled some holes for me.
    I took some o-rings or tiny plastic circles and glued them on to make something that I can stick pegs into. I tried to score them myself, or draw on the firing arcs. I have regular fighter, bases med fighters, and a couple of large bases now.

    As for the plane cards you need, there are plenty of images floating around of custom cards you can use. I used a color copier and put some on card stock.
    I copied a deck I already owned for some of them.

    Manuever decks are a wee bit harder. What planes and we can figure out the decks? Some users might have extra decks they might sell you for relatively inexpensive.

    I think there are a lot of creative flyers out there. Your stuff sounds great. The models for which I have the aircraft cards but not the manoeuvre cards are - P47, P51, FW190 A and D, Beaufighter, Mosquito, FW189, Me410, Me262. I think decks M, N, P, R might cover some of these.

    Alan. I have scanned all the maneuver decks. If you don't mind printing your own I can send you the scans. PM me with what you need for decks as I'll have to do this through normal email.

    Or getting decks may be quite easy! Well done Peter!

    P47 = T deck
    P51 = P deck
    FW190 = R deck.

    The Beaufighter is eluding me, but the others you can probably find here: Unofficial plane list

    The Bristol Beaufighter uses an M deck.

    Thanks for the info. Think I have all my planes sorted now except the Me189. Cheers.

    Oops, slip of the finger, or rather the brain. Yes FW189 is what I meant.
