Thread: Digging in the yard?

    Default Digging in the yard?

Imagine being a kid, just digging in the back yard at your new house and finding a WWI trench site? It almost happened but for a few faithful and some crowd funding (good thing it wasn't our Kick-Starter) . . . History is everywhere you look!

Ohio is chock full of interesting history, even aviation history! My grandfather lived adjacent to the Huffman prairie, (now site of Wright-Patterson, Ohio.) Many of the Haughts are buried there. The field was used by the Wright's, he used to watch them fly as a kid there. Later as an ambulance driver on the front in WWI he daily pulled pilots out of wrecks. He never got over the danger of airplanes until the day I was born . . .

I'm just as happy not to find the occasional unexploded bomb or cache of gas shells in my back garden

I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
