What scale, David. IIRC, you were looking to do something bigger for the Dams this time.

Tape! OMG... THAT's how I put the lower wings on that bloody Valom Rumpler C.IV!
D'oh!
Looking good!
Here's my Fokker E.III, ready for painting. The photoetch undercarriage parts of the Valom kit were both fiddly and flat (the real struts were more rounded) so I just used polystyrene rod and measured off the photoetch parts for length. The Eindecker undercarriage isn't as complex as it may first appear, but you do need a few views from different angles to see how it all works.

Looking good Mark.
I bet that UC took a bit of assembly.

Thanks, but not as much as you might think. I did the axle first (one piece, shallow cut at the centre, bent, wheels glued on), then the two Vee parts that attach to the fuselage and the fore-and-aft part that connects those. Axle glued to the forward one of those, let it all dry, then measured the other four rods' lengths from their attachment points and finished it off.
The key is not to rush it; it's easy to misalign parts you've already put in place if they're not yet firm in place. You can do the first and second stages separately, too.
Very cute italian tanks, Bob.
What scale are they in?
Tanks are 1/100 (15mm), and the hexes are 4" wide. I made four 22"x32" boards that can be mated together from one inch foamboard a number of years back for the old Axis & Allies game. The hexes were "carved" using a soldering iron and then scenicked with ground foam. I also cut a number of 4" hill pieces and use some very thin foam to put "water" on the boards if needed for beach landings, or an oasis, etc. They can be used to adapt miniatures to a variety of board games like Panzer Grenadier or Lock n' Load Tactical, or as "flyover" country for aircraft as well.
Wow, steady hands there mate.

GHQ makes foam hexes for their 1/285 stuff. You would have to check on what size they are. Great idea Bob and inspiring. Woodland Scenic make foam boards for model railroading. You could use a foam cutter and make you own hexes as Bob did.

Did my heart good to see a two colour Matchbox kit being made up in this day and age
Nicely done, too!
So how many books are in your personal library?
OK, so Real Life is getting in the way of my hobbies. And despite being "retired", I get to do all sorts of things that need doing, besides graphics and planes.
This week, I assisted my brother-in-law put together a presentation for his recently departed father, and that entailed digitizing over 100 photos from as far back as the early 1930's (you know, before digital cameras and iPhones). Also, a buddy desparately needed to replace the deck on the back of his house, as the wood that was there was litterally turning to sawdust in our hands as we ripped it off the house.
The house, after the deck was removed:
Note: this was the 2X10 support span, at the half-way point, we put a further span out at the 9 foot point.
The new, much safer, much improved, larger deck:
Note: You can just see the 9 foot support span under the deck in this shot.

Serious fun there! I sure miss the outside fun, 116 degrees today : ( Good to get done before the snow flies!
Now that is a real workbench project and I have to say excellent work. You could make extra bucks, for planes, doing such work on the side.
For my Russians I have some I-16's, SB 2's and Pe 2"s so after reading more of the FINNISH ACES Osprey book I found that the Russians had La 5's later in the war. Here is my idea for them.

Again AIM models and MISCMINI decals. The decals are for 32 GvAD Kursk so again this is my idea of a camo scheme. I still have a few more planes to decal so should have some new ones in the next few weeks.

The attachment fairy has struck again Bob.

Great Lanc Dave. Love the Italian armor, I have a neat force myself. Bob, why did you have to show Finnish planes? I love their color schemes and am trying very hard not to go Finnish.
Peter when I got the Osprey book I just wanted to get planes for them. They have such verity of planes. For them I have Hawks/Blenheim's/Buffalo's/MS406's/G50's/ a Pe-2 and a SB 2. I did see that they had Me 109G's also. SO. My paint jobs are not up to yours but keeps me occupied.
Oh and don't forget that MISCMINI (Kevin) has decals for the French and AIM (Dave) has the planes to go with them. So a 1940 game ?
I'm definitely working to a 1940 French force. Maybe for Cold Wars they'll be ready as they are not at the top of my list yet. Soon I'll be starting some P-40s for the Flying Tigers, Burma and China. Already have the AIM planes and Kevin's decals.
Well worth the wait Bob.
Thanks for re sending.
The problem with sending several files at once may be that it exceeds the capacity of the server.
Try reducing them in byte size for transmitting and see if that helps.

all I can say is Unreal. Fantastic.
Very nice Lancaster David: thumbsup:
Well finally got around to putting decals on 8 planes today. Want to get the matte finish on them tonight so should have photos tomorrow.

I am loving all the work I'm seeing this month! Keep the inspiration coming, folks
Like Mike, my life has been consumed with decorating the new house to SWMBO's standards since I've returned from Origins...painted, hung drapes, added cement board for tiles around the fireplace, and put up a new salvaged mantel in the living room - it's almost finished...just need to do some paint touch-up in the next couple of days...
Painted the dining room and hung pictures and drapes, and attached another salvaged mantle and iron fireplace panel...this room is finished, aside from a couple of pictures and some detail work around the fireplace...
After living in the last home for 20 years, this new downsizer is an adventure! I need to carve out time to do some hobby work...along with a place to do it!
All the best,
Matt
Matt if that is downsizing you must have had a huge house before. Great work and SWMBO has great taste (beside you).
Love the cathedral print in the second photo! Great. Decorating indeed.
Special project I did for Jager earlier this month. Got permission to post now.

Nice work everyone
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
Things are getting better, Dave! Still an uphill battle to find a place for everything...
Great work on the MG section, Ken - I had heard from the man himself about these beauties...
Bob, we went from about 3500 square feet down to about 1500...with an attic that can be finished...but it will be a process... When SWMBO talks about color or design or some decoration plan, I used to question things...but I have learned it will turn out just fine, so now I just follow orders...
Dave, the print is of the Cologne Cathedral from the eastern side. I've had the print for years, but in the old house it was in a place where few ever saw it. It displays well in the new place. When I took the family to visit relatives in Germany in '06, we took a day trip to visit Cologne and toured the cathedral - it's quite impressive.
All the best,
Matt
Did my master's thesis on Chartres cathedral . . . so long ago . . .
