Thread: Ares WWI stuff

  1. #1

    Default Ares WWI stuff

I know T&T is due out in a month or two, but what about other plane releases? Are there any plans to introduce new planes for the great unwashed or what

I was wondering about the balloons as well, seems the Martians are playing havoc with both the other world wars . . . : )

It seems balloons are scheduled for early 2019 and at some point between now and then a set including the Se5a, Breguet, Pfalz III and Rumpler.
As with all things Ares release, the dates will not be fixed.
    We wait.

The WW2 fighters (Corsair, P-38 Lightning etc.) have also been put back to 2019 according to a Youtube video from Origins.

There are some WW1 planes in the Tripods & Triplanes expansion: rocket firing Nieuport 16's and new paint schemes for some Series 1 models, Sopwith Camel, SPAD XIII, Fokker Dr.1 & Albatros D.V's.

    New repaints include:

Balls N16 with rockets (yes, need three)

    Red Barons last Fokker Dr.I

    Kissenberths Camel (German)

Navarres N16 with rockets (not sure but I've seen a red one)

Am I'm missing any new repaints?

Does anyone know how many hit points, gun and what what movement deck the Nieuport 16 has? Was it a WoW card?

  7. #7

    Default

Yep - R Deck; B gun; 10 health; 12 ceiling; 2 climb - was a WoW card in Balloon Busters set.
Climb rate given as 5, ceiling 10 in WoW Balloon Busters expansion - these may be stats for rocket laden machine.

Ares will simply have to re-release their N.11 with rockets & add an R deck.

One would hope that with the N16s with rockets coming out that balloons would not be far behind.

Good to see Albert Ball is being modelled.

I would love to see a Mick Mannock or James McCudden SE5a in the series.

Those silver rockets are gonna hafta be repainted....Quality of the paint jobs seems to go down hill further with each release.

Great shot of the Sopwith Pup with rockets, Dave! Where is it taken? Good to see the rockets 'in the flesh' - easy repaint, as you say, for those who might want to do so...

    Now that it's been almost a month, I hope you've re-acclimated...

    All the best,
    Matt

Cool photo. I think I’d be worried the exhaust would ignite the fabric on launch!

That's the Sop pup at the Shuttleworth Collection Matt.
The rockets on the N.11 & this N.16 aren't as finely detailed as on the original N.16 but they were painted silver all the same so no change in the paint job - probably 'cos of the metal tubes used - dull it down a bit & paint the rocket heads and they'll look a treat.
The temps in Dayton set me up for the temps we've had since I got home, a bit cooler by your standards but not by much sometimes !
