Origins 2018 AAR
Dead stopped on Rte 95 in Ct....twice. Lost about 45 minutes in 'ole Connecticut. Adding to a ten hour day of driving isn't appreciated.
Approaching a highlight of driving above NY city, the Tappan Zee Bridge.
The new bridge is now in use while the old one is being taken down. I've watched the new one go up over the last couple of years, very interesting.
Operation Blucher-Yorck, (run by me) a German ground support mission with armored planes. Hannovers, Halberstadts with armored AEG JIIs and Albatros JIs.
The Germans can strafe and drop grenade clusters on the retreating British infantry scoring points for those that are forced back.
TrenchWench(Beth), Crashx(Tim in grey), BBSuds (Bob in blue)
The RAF seems to have a hot day today as many of them ignited. I don’t think the Germans were using incendiary rounds but it looked as if they were.
Camel making a run at an Albatros J.I.
From left, Cowman(Ken), Flash(Dave)(a fuzzy Glenn behind Flash) TrenchWench(Beth)
I don’t like food or drinks on my table….PHIL!
Kanalkampf begins.(run by me) Stukas with 109 escort attack Convoy Peewit, intercepted by Hurricanes and Spitfires.
109s out in front finding the Spits.
The Stukas not far behind the 109s.
Caveman(Dave) in black next to Flash.
A Spitfire about to splash.
One Hurricane down!
The first Stuka goes swimming.
Four Stukas closing in on the convoy with one going down.
The Stukas got behind the RAF but a gunner on a large freighter takes one down.
A string of Stukas trying not to be noticed.
Hello!
Hurricanes desperately defending the shipping below.
One Kraut that is not going to get home.
One Stuka scores a hit on the freighter and is shot down immediately after.
A small freighter is blown in two
The Stukas had a difficult time timing their bomb drops. Many of them flew over the freighters, overshooting and not being able to make a drop. Must have been the wind!
Midway! (run by me)
BobSalt(Bob on left in white), Caveman(black shirt with yellow/orange T-Rex(?) checking his orders from the Emperor)
The Devestators on the deck about to be jumped by a flight of Zeros. One Zero catches fire, as they tend to do.
Smoking, burning and falling Zeros. Only one Devestator down so far.
Devestators begin to fall like autumn leaves.
In come the Wildcats and Dauntlesses.
The Japanese are out of position. The dive bombers have a clear run at the carrier.
Fresh off the deck of the Kaga, a Zero engages the lead Dauntless.
The Dauntlesses break formation as the Zeros fly in. Wildcats try their best to fend them off.
Kaga went down as well as one destroyer. The second destroyer was badly damaged but the Akagi escaped….for now.
A Night Over London. (run by me with my night rules)
Three Gothas try to reach London in the middle of the night. Home Defense puts up a smattering of planes to intercept.
This RE.8 flares brightly in the night sky.
The Gothas reach London.
A fierce battle rages when the bombers are spotted.
The Tower Bridge is destroyed!
1:1 scale gaming. This is a fully functioning Stuart!
One of the most impressive boardgame convention setups I’ve ever seen. I think it’s Academy Games 1775, Rebellion.
The Dunkerque Horror! (run by Matt)
Sorry but I forget which game this was! I ran and played in as many games as possible. Its all a blur now.
Triplanes take on a pair of HP 0/400s. Um…looks like Phil but it was me. First shot at me, BOOM!
The HP flies past my burning wreck.
You can see a string of wrecks in the top left charting the course of the HPs.
In my second Triplane I help knock down the first HP. The second HP is downed very close to exiting the board.
The Four Pilots of the Apocalypse.
Ahhh…is he supposed to be here?
The last game and Phil holds to form.
Heading back through the rolling hills in central Pennsylvania. Much more pleasant scenery than flat as far as the eye can see Ohio!
