Thread: Albatros J.I cards?

  1. #1

    Default Albatros J.I cards?

Does anyone have an Albatros J.I card?

Ugh, light went on at the last moment. I'm running a game at Origins but don't have the card for the armored Albatros J.I. With all I have to do I doubt I'll have the time to try to cobble one together.

I can't recall seeing one, nor have any in my files
Since Mike's out of the office, you might try an urgent PM to Guntruck.

Thanks for looking Karl. They will have to fly without cards. I'll just have to use substitutes if overlapping happens.

    Well there you go, Peter.
Thanks Bobby. Out of curiosity, what is this site?

Thanks Bobby. I had not yet delved into Daryl's wiki site. It sure looks good!

Just to ensure that credit is given where due: Zoe Brain's Corrected or Modified WGF Cards Album

Zoe was/is on a campaign to have a card for every plane.

I can't find a decent line drawing of the J.I online, so I will stop in to the Museum and check their library for a drawing. Failing that, I could use this:

Note that there are two firing arcs for this plane, and I would do something similar to the AEG J.I:

OldGuy59's WWI Central Powers Bombers Album - AEG JI
OldGuy59's WGF Equipment Cards Album - AEG JI Basic/Std Rules
OldGuy59's WGF Equipment Cards Album - AEG JI Advanced Rules

PS: Daryl produces a 144th scale model of this plane (Link: www.shapeways.com - Albatros J.I), and has provided a drawing: ReducedAirFact's Plane Model Top Views Album

However, there are no wing ribs for me to shade, so not that useful.

Darn! Peter! Need the unit info, and a top-down image for the color scheme, too.

PS: First attempt to clean up a drawing was not too successful.

I'll see what the museum pub crawl brings...

Note: "Pub Crawl" - a phrase attempting to make the scouring of military technical publications trying to find answers to obscure and meaningless questions during trades training a bit more palatable.

I'll get you some top down photos of the 2 planes I have this week. Reading in the Schiffer book on Schlastas there were 4 paint schemes for the Alb. J.1. I did one each of #1 and #2 below.

    1. Light green, dark green and mauve
    2. Light green and dark green,
    3. 5 color camo
    4. reverse of #2

Of course there are no photos to show any of these. (that I know of)

    Peter;
Do you need me to look for my copy of German Armored Warplanes of WWI

Finishing Origins prep, but I could spare a minute.

If you could I'd love to have a look at it.

This should be used with the Equipment Cards in Post #8. Those are for the A.E.G. J.1, but directly apply to the forward arc on this plane. I may have to amend the cards for this aircraft, as it may have been that the pilot fired the forward MGs, and not the observer.
