Cool MvR's Commemorative 100th Anniversary Flight

Manfred von Richtofen: Gentlemen, today we will patrol an area near the Morlancourt Ridge. This is an area with Australian and British ground troops and British forces in the air. We can expect to have the Sopwith Camel as our main opposition.
We have been successful lately in the air.
To your planes and good hunting.

    As the forces come together.
    Attachment 245274

As the Germans start crossing the river shots are fired, Lt. Archibald Kilpatrick (1)(1)(2) takes some serious damage from three Fokker Dr.1, while missing a shot at the Red Baron(0).
    Attachment 245275

The furball is on. Pick a partner for the dance, take your shot, hope for the best.
Some close calls and near collisions.
Two of the combatants a German and a British received minimal damage (0,1). While the Red Albatross (3,1NR) takes heavy damage.
    Attachment 245276

More shots fired with heavy damage all around. MvR shoots at 2Lt. Christian Reeves(4,2FLM), while Arthur Rahn hit 2Lt. Sebastian Livingston (5) and Hans Kirchstein hit 2Lt. Alexander Farr (3P,5P) sending him spiralling to the ground.
With everything tight planes are climbing and diving to avoid collision.
    Kill--Kirchstein
    Attachment 245277

As pilots joust and move around for shots. The Germans are laying into the British with gusto.
MvR continues his assault on 2Lt. Reeves (0,3) with 2Lt. Livingston (1,0GJ) and Kirchstein (4,0GJ) exchanging shot, with Hans Kirchstein getting the worst of it as both guns jam.
Arthur Rahn shoots Lt. Forbes (3,0)
Lothar von Richtofen shoots at 2Lt. Hamlett (0) as Godwin Brumowski adds his to 2Lt. Hamlett (EXP, 1NL)
    Kill--Brumowski

Lt. Patrick Forbes has the Baron in his sights and unleashes a decimating blow to MvR (4,5). Both Rahn and Kempf fire on Lt. Forbes (0,1NL)(2NR) damaging his controls making it hard to turn his plane.
    Attachment 245279

As the fight rages on and men try to get into position to shoot someone, close calls once again have people climbing and diving to save their planes.
LT. Forbes still behind the Red Baron (1,2GJ) hits him again before his guns go silent.
A long shot by Kempf hit Lt. Forbes (2GJ) before his guns also go silent.
2Lt. Reeves (2) isn't having much luck putting out the fire.
    Attachment 245280

As MvR (2GJ) turns to his right Lt. Kilpatrick takes a shot causing the Red Baron's planes to spiral to the Earth below, as his guns jam.
    Kill--Lt. Kilpatrick
    Attachment 245281

As the Baron falls the remaining British scramble to get safely home to tell the tale of the Baron's demise and how they accomplished their mission.

Of the Germans, only Arthur Kempf and Hans Kirchstein are aware of what happened and neither are in a position to extract any kind of revenge.

Fire is taking hold of 2Lt. Reeves and ravaging his plane.

As one of the two British pilots slides behind Arthur Kempf, just avoiding a collision, Hans Kirchstein cannot get a clear shot.

As Lt. Kilpatrick tries to escape Kempf tries to cut him off, but he will make it home safely.
    Attachment 245285

2Lt. Livingston (0GJ) gets the best of Rahn (3) as the Germans guns go silent.
    Attachment 245286

As 2Lt. Livingston tries to fly through the gaps to safety he is set upon by Godwin Brumowski and Ludwig Hautzmayer.
2Lt. Livingston (EXP)(0) plane comes apart as he hits Brumowski (4) hard.
    Kill--Hautzmayer

Ken, I flew every one of them. No A.I.'s, it was me flying them and trying to put each one in a position for a good shot.
I tried to get my son to join and help me, but he went to my daughter's instead. I had a couple of people at the game store come over and ask questions, but they decided to go play Magic instead.

It took just under 3 hours to finish.

And now to finish the story.

    Mission Discussion

    The Set up

    British
    6 Sopwith Camels

    Germans
    5 Fokker DR.1
    2 Albatross DIII

This combination gives the British 90 hp and the Germans 93. Both are "A" firing guns. I'm not using any ACE Abilities or the plus 1 for continuous firing.

I rolled a D6 to decide who fired first, even British, odd Germans.

If I had used ACE Abilities, MvR would not have taken 9 points of dmg in one shot.

I thought this was a pretty evenly balanced scenario. It was definitely fun.

    Rest in Peace

Supreme effort, and a fitting tribute to MvR.

Bit late on this one, as been away - but congrats, Dale, on a great bit of solo play. As Tim says - a fitting tribute to MvR
