    5th of May, 2018
    Country Club Centre
    Nanaimo, British Columbia

This will be my third(?) foray to Nanaimo to put on demos at Curious Comics events. It was a Zoo (in a good way) last year, with lots of people coming through the Mall, both regular shoppers and convention participants. I will be bringing both Tripods and Wings, and we'll see what gets played. Perhaps Snoopy could take on the Martians?

And after my first attempt to get a Tripod across the map went horribly wrong, being totally inundated with hot lead by three youngsters, I was able to dodge past a true hero, only because he was not used to his new manuever deck.

What should the Batwing have as stats?

In terms of WWI, perhaps two gatling guns and le Prieur rockets? So, that would be AA/D.

Speed would be WWII or Post-WWII, but perhaps an 'N' deck (very fast)?

Damage? Well, in the Batman movie, a single shot from the Joker brought it down, so it could be anything from 5-20. How about 15?

    Good job, Mike.
    Nice to see Batman Unmasked

As to the stats for the Batwing, I will leave that up to the experts.

Hope you had a good turnout.

What I said about 'local competition' is not just about players...

I got handed this card after our game. I did NOT produce this, nor the custom Batwing plane card above. Awesome!

The very first game of Tripods was interesting, in that I was playing against three young, new, players. No pictures, cause I was too busy trying to keep the boys engaged.

The next game Dave showed up, and put his new plane on the table. This was the opening exchange:

Nikolas was flying the von Richthofen Dr.1, and Dave the Batwing. They both attacked head on, but Nikolas was literally taking the heat for the team. This was pretty damaging for both of us.

I eventually took Nikolas down, and barely got off the far side of the map. I was not 'intact'. I think my pilot was wounded, and the tripod had taken engine damage, besides the numerical damage. Tough fight. Dave did use his rockets, but they hit my shields. I did get hit with two Boom Cards, which caused me to drop to 0 energy the second time. As I was sitting on an objective, and had chosen to recharge, I immediately got back three energy to put my shields back up. Then, I ran off the board to save myself.

After that game, Dave had to go fight some crime somewhere, and I did get a few more games in. I may have gained a few new pilots, with Evan and Graham playing a few rounds toward the end of the day. We'll see if they visit the Forum and share pictures.

Sorry I had to jet so quick after the game! That Mall was absolutely insane for attendance - my sidekick was manning the booth by himself and was getting mobbed! haha

Evan sent me a few pictures of our game at the end of the day. We played a game of Tripods, I believe, but we also played a game of Wings of Glory. I was flying Lothar von Richthofen, with Evan flying a Camel and Graham flying Collishaw's Sopwith Triplane (Come on! We were in Collishaw's home town).

What! Two guys that have never played before and I end up on fire, with a wounded pilot, and shot full of holes. Not too visible is Peter's [teaticket] flame marker on top of Lothar's plane in my hand. The table shows the bullet sandwich position of the two RFC planes. My plane was in between the two, getting hit from either side.

I still shook Evan's hand at the end of the game, and may have a new player. We may see Evan, and Graham, at M-Con!
