Thread: COLOURS 2018

  1. #1

    Default COLOURS 2018

I have been contacted by the Demo and participation co-ordinator for Colours 2018 asking if we'd like to take part again this year - I have replied in the affirmative !
    The date is Saturday 15th September 2018 - opens between 10.00 & 17.00
Venue is at Newbury Racecourse in Berkshire RG14 7NZ

    http://www.nrwc.org.uk/colours-2018

If there are any chaps and chapesses who may be available to come along and support this fine event then please stick your name down asap so I have an idea of numbers to run the table.

Last years show was manic with only three of us but great fun:

Confirming I should be free to help at Colours. As previously discussed, if they have been released in time, I’m happy to bring Tripods etc. to provide a bit variety.

Yep, should be able to fit that in somewhere Neil - it will be interesting to see the response from the punters.

Apparently some missed this thread so a timely reminder for any interested in attending this premier show - loads of traders, bring & buy and games spread over three floors at a racecourse venue.
I asked for six tickets & we have had six respond but do come along if you want a day out.

Don’t hold a ticket for me Dave, as I’ll only be around for a shortish time. It may be useful for someone else who can put in more time.

    Tea & Bacon Butties ?!
Something to display at the table end would be cool Tim & banners from any one who has them

Can't figure a way to keep the tea in the Butty with the bacon!

Banner and Display stuff, no problem.

We should be there at nine-ish depending on traffic & navigation. Hope you can all still make it.
This years team for entry is: Me (flash); Andy (Ajay), Neil (NeilCFord), Rob (Rabscallion), Chris (Boney10),Tim (Flying Helmut)
Usual procedure is report to the front door tell them you're with the Wings of Glory Aerodrome team and they'll give you a badge, and don't queue up ! We should be on the top floor by a window if all has gone to plan.

Note: there is no trader/player parking in front of the grandstand this year - you need a pass to go in to drop stuff with somebody (not take it in) and drive out.
Car park No1 (on the field) from the south side; Car Parks 4 & 5 from the north are the ones in use.

Look forward to seeing everyone from the forum that can come along - make yourselves known and have a go if you have time.

Things definitely started slower than last year but participation picked up as the day progressesed. I think we persuaded a few people to give the game a further go and might have prompted a few sales.

A small selection of photos can be found on Flickr. Warning: not of of them are Wings related.

It was a great day out, met a new face from the forum (Dave - Blucher) & some old ones (DM & Burt) as well as some punters from previous shows. Finally got home at 19:45, memsahib had a ruby and an ice pack ready then all was well with the world.

Fun day out, thanks to everyone who rolled up.

I seemed to spend most of the day talking to a succession of interested folks, and sent a good few downstairs to Roland at "Firepower Games", who said he had a really busy day, selling lots of stuff including a Handley Page and a Staaken!

I took a few pictures - will try to get around to posting some soon.

Nice pics Tim, glad you caught some of the action for posterity - in the last few pics me and Ajay were wingmen to Jerry, a returning player from last year taking on a dad & his two youngsters. It's Jerry pictured going down in flames to the guns of the youngster in MvR's tripe. I rammed him out of the sky in the next turn, he got the Boom card & I collected 10 damage ! His dad having fallen earlier in the scrap that just left his young sister who led us a merry dance around the table under Neil's tutelage as GM but we got her in the end !

It's so much easier finding time to take pictures when you're not in the thick of the action!

    I agree Tim.
Now i'm so tied up with that other table, I feel really bad about only getting the odd shot of the WWI and 2 games, with no real concept of the progress or action going on.
