Was playing with some friends yesterday and as the Allies we were flying x2 DH 4's escorted by x2 Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutters vs. x2 Albatross Diii's, x1 Albatross Dii, and x1 Halberstadt Diii. We also have the Germans x6 Anti-Aircrsct guns, and x3 Anti-Aircraft machine guns. As the Allies we placed 3 potential targets, and then the Germans placed their guns and AA machine guns.
Here's my question, nowhere in the rules does it define what constitutes a full bombload or how many bombs a plane carries. Nor does it say how much damage each bomb does, or how many vp's to assign to each bomb successfully dropped on target.
In the end we decided for victory determination that the Allies had to successfully hit one of their targets, and exit at least one of their bombers off the map towards their lines. If the Germans shot down the bombers prior to bombing their target they win. If the Allies bombed their target, but failed to exit any bombers, it would be a draw.
We were using the basic altitude rules. An observation, anti-aircraft guns and AA machine guns are way less deadly when using altitude rules. Having to pick which altitude the AA guns explode at really is tricky.
On the approach to target, my 1 1/2 Strutter got nailed by Archie for 6 points of damage. My partner's DH 4 successfully bombed the bridge. My DH 4 overflew the target, and after my 1 1/2 Strutter was shot down I decided to run for home. We managed to shoot down an Albatross Diii and severely damage another before our 2nd 1 1/2 Strutter was shot down. When we called the game due to time, my DH 4 was in the clear, and my partner's DH 4 was being closely pursued by the training 3 German planes.
