Thread: Vought OS2U - 350 Scale

    Default Vought OS2U - 350 Scale

I am impressed with Trumpeter as my first kit is the BB35 - USS Texas - because the molds are so clean and detailed. I have only just begun the build and started with the catapult observer plane, the Vought OS2U, "Kingfisher". The parts are molded in clear Styrene, which is a fine way to show off the detail of the Canopy(s). It was fun way to start the build. As can be seen from the photos, all painting was done with parts attached to the sprue and touched up after trimming and assembly I did add a scratch antenna and radio wire.Click image for larger version.

Nice work, Willi. How does the "paint on spue" technique work? I ran across it on the 40K site and wondered if it was something to try for my Bolt Action figures.

My experience has been good. I have done it on several occasions. I simply requires touch up upon removal and cleaning of any flash. So the caution would be if you are mixing a custom paint, save some

I did that with Airfix figures a couple of score years ago.
    Kept things fairly neat.

My question is how do you paint something that small - especially the glass details?
