Kevin
I'd like to make a request for decals for this squadron's F4U-4s, operating over Okinawa in the late spring/summer of 1944, using the AIM F4U-5 as the model. Ken Walsh scored his last kill with this squadron, so his Corsair (either White 13 or White A-53) is probably the most colorful of its aircraft, although that's primarily due to his victory flags. There's a little discrepancy between the first, B&W photo and the artwork from Mark Styling's aviation art website--White 318 and White A-54 are both described as being flown by 2nd Lt. Nate Whisenhunt--but the suadron's markings were white ID numbers and letters (and maybe a small white patch on the vertical stabilizer); and F4U-4s don't seem to have needed tape on their cowlings to prevent oil leaks. No hurry on this request, as I still have to acquire the models necessary--although if it's added to your list, that will provide the motivation to buy them and get the models painted .
Thanks!
