This is a game I ran two years ago at Origins. German triplanes were protecting a balloon line of 4 observation balloons from intruding British Sopwith Camels. It was the first 'official' use of my NML spacer in a game - you can see it separating the Ares Country and City mats. The Camels had to cross into German territory and fry as many Hun sausages as possible before the Germans managed to reel them down.

Once the Camels hit the British trench line, word went back to the balloons that they needed to begin descending. Standard rules applied as the Germans tried to get the balloons down in time. As I recall, Peter (Teaticket), flying a Camel and using his mad flying and maneuver skills, managed to burn two of the balloons. The Camels had a slight speed edge over the triplanes, and this stood them in good stead as they made their attacks against the sausages. By the end of the game, two balloons were down, and a third was on fire by the time the Germans got the remaining two to the ground. The Brits were victorious...

In the pictures you see two of the AIM Parseval-Sigsfeld balloons I've painted, along with my repainted Nexus brown balloon. In addition, there are many regular faces from Origins - Peter (Teaticket), Christopher (fast.git), BBSuds and Trenchwench, Randy Wapperom, Glen Garcia, Mark McCreary, as well as several others whose names I don't remember. It was a wonderful 'first time' for me running an event at Origins.

    All the best,
    Matt
