Default HAVOC XXXIV 6-8 April 2018

Havoc will be here soon after Cold Wars. I just submitted 3 games that I will run on Saturday.

    Havoc web site 'HERE'.

    My events as follows,

Kanalkampf, Stuka attack on Convoy Peewit Saturday, 9:00am-1:00pm
At the beginning of the Battle of Britain the Germans put considerable effort into closing down the English Channel to Allied shipping. Convoy Peewit was attacked several times while attempting a transit. The Germans inflicted severe damage convincing the RN that it could no longer protect shipping in the channel. Fly for Old Blighty or Hitler and be ready for a swim.

Again, over the Somme Saturday, 2:00pm-6:00pm
7 April 1918 the front saw heavy artillery action by both sides. Artillery observation planes guided volley after volley against the enemy. The enemy wouldn't let the slow 2 seaters do their work at their leisure and sent up scouts to intercept. Above, waiting, were escort planes ready to bounce any enemy attacking the observers. Fly one of the fast scouts for glory or death, or a 2 seater and do the real work over the front.

1918, the Spring German offensive Saturday, 7:30pm-11:30pm
The Germans had one last punch in them and gave it all they had. New ground attack planes were designed and sent out to support the advancing infantry. New armored planes protected the crew while they machine gunned and dropped cluster grenades on the enemy below. Fly for the Kaiser and support the push on the ground or with the Entente, desperately trying to keep the new machines of death away from their friends below.

Thanks Gary. I always have a great turnout at Havoc so these should be fun. I hope to be able to take a good share of photos.

This weekend is Havoc. I hope to see as many Aerodrome members that can make it on Saturday. Three Wings games to fly in, why would you not attend?

1st game, KanalKampf, Convoy Peewit. RAF came in with Hurricanes and Spitfires were their reinforcements when shot down. One pilot survived the battle with his Hurricane.

Stukas approaching the convoy with 109 escort intercepted by the Hurricanes.

2nd battle, Again Over the Somme. Here the British were spotting for artillery in one of the later Somme battles. I made some radio markers to place on the targets for keeping track of which plane was correcting the shoot on what target. RE.8s and my new AW FK.8s called in the Royal Artillery. The Hun threw Fokker D.VIIs, SSW D.IIIs and Albatros D.Vas at them with abandon.

Sadly there were few sign ups for this one so I flew a plane to even up the sides. Thomas quickly increased the game-master-side bias with a first shot BOOM on me!

3rd battle, 1918, The Spring German Offensive.

More new markers made for this one, infantry target cards and grenade clusters. German 2 seaters (Hannovers, Halberstadts and AEG JIIs) strafe and drop grenades on the retreating British infantry below. The AEG JIIs are armored with a pair of downward firing machine guns. The armor protects them by ignoring the first engine damage, crew wound, fire, smoke and BOOM damage drawn from ground fire.

A prize for the best pilot! Sorry, the calendar, not the Pickelhaub.

Might we see these in The Bitter End?

    Thanks Pete.

Bitter End is speeding to it's close so I fear both of these will not make it. I was going to post the ground support for the 1918 Spring offensive but I didn't have one of the correct month slots for it. Well, ok I did, but I really wanted to get the night rules out so went that way. I have an actual mission for May I haven't yet seen done and you'll get new markers for it!

I played in all three of Peter's games, 12 hours of Wings! Peter ran some creative scenarios that were great fun to play in. Thank you Peter for running the games. Rep inbound.

Thanks Thomas. We were the only Aerodrome members this time around. Usually there are one or three others but Havoc's attendance has been dwindling the last few years. Rumors of it's demise have circulated for a while but it keeps on kicking. Hope it happens again next year so we can fly some more.
