I've finally gotten around to reading Fighter Pilot by "McScotch" (Lt. William MacLanachan). Almost done, though, and The Advance from Mons 1914 by Walter Bloem is on deck.

I'm tackling that book which Zoe 'recommended' by the guy who's a regular on the Aerodrome - The Kaiser's Yanks, along with the fourth book in the Otto Prohaska series, as well as rereading The Last of the Mohicans. I always have several going at the same time...

    All the best,

Currently reading Day of Battle from Rick Atkinson's WW2 trilogy. His three books and the Lord of the Rings trilogy are books that I end up rereading somewhat regularly and always seem to find something new.

Just chewing through a odd stack of Scifi/Fantasy stacked near the bed. with the odd Cussler thrown in. Truly thinking on dragging out my copy of the Peoples war book and atlas William Bishop signed edition to go over the pics from WWI printed in the 20's. First half the book is on the first World war and the second is a 1920s vintage world atlas..that is fun to look at in it's own right. A bit beat up but had it since I grabbed it from my dad in the 60's as a kid.

Somewhere you mentioned hoping for a campaign on the Flying Tigers. I really like that idea so my research is starting.

This sounds cool. Would you focus on the 1941-1942 time frame of the AVG, or also carry it into its existence (23rd FG) within the CATF/14th AF?

I'm thinking starting pre-Flying Tigers. I want to begin when Chennault took over training for the Chinese, to the AVG Flying Tigers and then on with the 14th AF. My thought is that each con I run games at will have a theme campaign. I have to think about which campaigns I can run depending on which cons I can consistently attend. Example might be at Havoc I run a BoB campaign, so every year I'll put on a BoB game keeping track of the pilots that flew in previous BoB games. I have to think more about this.

Yeah. Not there yet, as I understand 3D printing.

It is the print material that does the color on output. The chapter uses an output material called 'Aluminum' (IIRC), which could look OK as a base for NMF, if it isn't too rough. I'm looking at printing out coins in 'gold' material, for looks, although the weight will be significantly less than metal.

Waiting on a book about the Halifax disaster during WWI. Went there on a cruise a few years ago so it sounds interesting. Last ones I did read were the series by Scott Washburn "The Great Martian War". His first book came out about the time the game All Quiet on the Martin Front came out. For those of you who go to the HMGS East cons he is the person that has the Paper Terrain.

    Hi Joe,
No this one was actually written by Theodore Roosevelt. It was originally published in 1899 -- I have a new reprint of it (from 2014) that includes many historic photographs illustrating points TR is making in the text. Its a lot of fun to read!

What a nice coincidence! Recently I finished "Flying Tigers" book by one of the Unit's pilot, Pole Witold Urbanowicz! Excellent source of knowledge on european pilot frontline life in the PTO. I wonder if he is mentioned in your book, Peter.
