Good for close in work...but short barrel and hot rounds in 223? Prefer my 308 or 7.62x39 guns. Or on a lazy day a 30-06 (Springfield 03-A3) or my 8mm (Turkish Mauser) with my hand loads work well. Also handload for my 45 ACP, 45 long colt, and 38/357 pistols. Also load 30-06, 30 cal carbine, 8mm, 303 Brit, and 308. May even have 6.5 or 7.7 Jap dies for my collection. Gotta love my Dillion reloader. Sigh..unfortunatly it has been 10 years or more since I last hunted or had range time...gotta change that this summer....HMM...can they do that config on a AR 10 in 308?

Ken, I've been considering one in .30-06 if I could get bare receivers (.30-06 AP M1, when you need to turn "cover" into "concealment"!), but in theory if you can find a Pistol buffer system (I'm not sure the Vltor A5H2 I used is up for the job) sturdy enough for the AR10 platform, you could build up something similar. (Problem is, this was built around the last CASV-EL handguard Vltor will ever make, so I can't even build another for the girlfriend, or even just a clone upper in .300BLK!)

This is a 10.3" barrel; if I were building an AR10 (and actually this is being planned for my next 5.56) I'd go to a 12.5" despite losing the Briefcase capability and having to use a large duffel. (As it is, I had to upgrade my laptop case to a larger bag just to fit this!)

If I remember right AR10's WERE 308. I know I saw some for sale a few years back and the Army has been playing with the idea of going back the last few years. Also remember one country modified M1 Garands with a 20 round box mag before the M14 came out. Buddy has a M14 (sigh M1A semiauto) but it did not impress me. Saw some surplus ammo blow out the bottom of the mag at the range one afternoon, good thing we were doing the one round at a time thing (a real bear to do with my Garand though).

Right, Ken, AR10s can be had in both .308 Winchester and 7.62 NATO depending on builder, but I had also seen one chambered to use WWII-issue AP ammo made for Garands--I had meant my next 5.56 is probably gonna be a 12.5" too, unless the girlfriend does something to kick His & Hers US M4/Canadian C8 up the list. Re mag-fed M1's, you're thinking of the Italian BM59.

You want just SICK, how 'bout an AR in .45-70 Government? http://www.recoilweb.com/phoenix-wea...ar-132226.html

You mean the gatling gun round?....Remember when they first played with making the minigun they hooked a moter up to an old gatling in 45-70...bet that was a sight.

Buddy has a Sharps in 45-70, wanted me to reload it for him but never got the dies. Considering sick, I remember they had a M1 carbine with some sort of Mag round they were playing with. Got like 5 or 7 rounds to a clip and had to do some serious rework on the chamber. Also had to use M2 fatboy stocks as the M1 stocks did not hold up.

    Default Cutting back

I've been trying to cut back on carbs, sci-fi, fantasy, boats, and infantry. Leaves more time for airplane models.

Another batch finished. The A400 is 1/300 scale, everything else is 1/200 scale. The TB-3 is from Kampfflieger models, Shapeways, everything else is from Armaments in Miniature. All decals are from Miscellaneous Miniatures (shameless plug). I've not created sheets for the TB-3, A400, or the CT-114 Tutor but I do have the graphics if someone is interested in a decal sheet for those.

I'd definitely buy TB-3 decals if you did them, Kevin.

Have to decal my H-75's but I have a different paint job on them. Good thing I have your decals. I was wondering what to do with the window behind the pilot. I have seen a number of pictures of it in different colors so wasn't sure what to do. As always great job.

    Thanks for the Finnish decals.

Kevin - those models look lovely!!! Must be nice to be a decalmeister in addition to your painting abilities... That Avia is particularly nice, even though it's all white...

And your Finnish stuff is an inspiration to get into an arena of combat that I've always thought was very interesting - yet I am trying to avoid Eastern Front stuff - dang you!

    All the best,
    Matt

I saw different pictures where the small window behind the cockpit was painted over or looked a different color so I just painted over it. I still need to add the HC decals to the plane.

Lovely job on these Finns, Bob - I have always loved the chubby-chunky look of the Brewster Buffalo, and it looks so good in the two-tone Finnish green camo...

    Keep it up!

Awesome! No idea how to fit this version into a combat game, but thank for doing it.

Pics later (I hope), though they are just basic metallic grey with some detailing. Red eyes, of course.
