Default Thunderous War - fictional scenario for 2+ players

    THUNDEROUS WAR

This scenario is inspired by the popular WWII-themed video game, War Thunder. It's meant to provide a fun, fast, and interesting multiplayer scenario which requires a minimal amount of pre-planning while offering lots of replayability.

    How to play:
Players should be divided into equal teams, with one aircraft per player.

A maximum number of points per team should be agreed upon, using the official points guide published by Ares:
    http://www.aresgames.eu/19239

Aircraft selected can be of any type - fighter, attacker, or bomber - of the players' choice, so long as the combined team total does not exceed the agreed-upon points limit.

There are three ground objectives per team (so six in total for the game):
    • The objectives are made using the supplied cards from the RAP or starter set.
    • The objectives can be destroyed by bombing or strafing using the normal rules.
    • The objectives are placed three to a side, with symmetry in placement between the two sides maintained.
I.e. one objective to the left side, one in the center, and one on the right, with placements mirrored between the two teams' sides.
    • Objectives should have the same number of hit points per side - i.e. all 5 HP, or all 8 HP, or an equal mix of each.

    How to win:
The first team to either destroy all three ground objectives, or shoot down all of their opponents' planes, is the outright winner.

In the event one or both teams no longer have planes in the play area (either because they have been destroyed or because they have left the play area), the game ends, and each team scores as follows:

    • 1pt for each enemy aircraft that has left the playing surface
    • 2pts for each enemy aircraft destroyed
    • 3pts for each ground objective destroyed

The team with the highest score is winner.

    Additional Rules:
All planes carrying bombs observe the "Full Load" rules as listed in the RAP or starter set.

All aircraft armed with cannons (C or D damage) observe the "Limited Ammo" rules as listed in the RAP or stater set.

Altitude rules can be used if desired.

We had our first play of this scenario. Two players per team, it wound up being one bomber and one fighter each. It was fun, but in the end I think more planes would make it better - meaning either more players, or more airplanes per player. It was fun enough that we're going to give it another shot. Will report back with future impressions.
