G'day Andy!
My son in law Geoffrey got the Downton Abbey version of that old game "Cluedo" for Christmas so the whole Family played 2 games on Boxing day night.
Great fun had by all.
Hi Andy, hope you had a good xmas , my best wishes to tou and yours.
Had my inlaws down over xmas, plus a visit from Maverick and Bogue and we been playing Massive Darkness. Quite an enjoyable game, but still need to paint all the beasties.
Our Church is having a game night and chili supper for New Years Eve. Bring whatever game you want type of night, our Pastor has requested I bring my planes, WWII, and teach him how to play.
I'm not sure if I'm going, the wife has the flu and daughter has a sinus infection.
Way to go Chris.
My wife and I did Zombicide Black Plague tonight, Have a full blown KS set and we play almost every weekend (we are both very competitive and a co op game saves a lot of arguments). Still have a KS version of Massive Darkness in the closet we have not cracked into yet, and 2 more KS Z-cide BP sets still in the closet unopened. One set of the characters is on E-bay and will get around to painting the Box sets for sale later.
our group has been playing colonizing mars of late. pretty good game.
Played with the familiy some games of "The Resistance" and "Coup" during the Christmas holidays. Nice games - not much material but fun.
On Friday Dec 29th we had our final game group event of the year. Axis & Allies anniversary edition (1941 setup).
Playing for Japan I occupied Hawaii and waited with some carriers for the US response. One turn 2, due to some bad dice throws, the pacific was clear of most of Jap ships.
Facing a quick axis defeat, the Germans executed a Sea Lion and captured England at the beginning of turn 3, because our strong playing British player (Markus) left a gap in the North Sea. This meant no income/production any more for the British until the (impossible) recapturing of the homeland.
After an unsucsessfull try to capture the Island of Japan as a counter draw (...it was close ), the Allies surrendered at the end of turn 3.
So I had a "happy boardgame end" 2017.

Wishing I could get in one, but no joy this year

Ticket to Ride is one of our favorite games, Andy...but last night saw us playing Carcassone - I believe we have another game of it laid on for this afternoon
My older son has been bitten by the boardgame bug, and he's been amassing quite a pile of 'em - he's into the card-based games, too; he received a Dominion supplement and the game Legendary for Christmas.
Great to see pictures of you and the family! Have a lovely time this evening celebrating New Year's Eve.
All the best,
Matt
Zulus on the Ramparts for me , a great solo game , superb artwork and the chance to be Michael Caine.
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
But tomorrow its X wing and a FOW skirmish

We are playing Munchkin Christmas edition. “Stab your buddy in the back and steal his presents!” Ahhh, good wholesome family fun.
Ticket to Ride always looked fun and very similiar to a game we have called Trans-America.
You guys take Axis and Allies very seriously! I mean someone made a grown man cry!
Cheers and Happy New Year to everyone.
Last night wife and I played PI. A vast improvement over Clue(Cluedo).
Tonight we fly!
Runebound 3rd Edition and Defenders of the Realm
Not New Years, but the other night my daughter, step-daughter and I played this: The Oregon Trail
It's a card game based on the old Apple II version my daughter played at school in Grade 4.
I got it for her for Christmas last year.
This year I got her the expansion game Oregon Trail: Hunt for Food
Not for the faint of heart - I think there is about a 10% chance to win.
(Un)fortunetly, just drinking good rakiya for last few days
I am with Teaticket on this one, teens during the days, single digit heading to zero at night for the next week or two.
And Boney10, also waiting for my copy of GH to get here this month (Jan).
Todays choices were super scrabble, Battleship, and dominos with the wife.

I played a quick game of Jaipur with my brother on Christmas Eve. Yesterday afternoon (NYE), I played a more substantial game with friends: War of the Ring. It ended on a nail biter, with Frodo nearly succumbing to the power of the Ring. He was, just barely, able to fling it into the Cracks of Mount Doom for a Free Peoples' victory (and my team's defeat).
New Years Eve we flew a joint mission against the AI Germans. My wife flew her Sopwith Camel Dragon, I flew Snoopy. We escorted 2 RE.8s on photo missions. AI inteceptors, first wave 2 Fokker Dr.Is, 2nd wave 2 Dr.Is and a Hannover CLIII.
The Dragon's first shot put a Dr.I on fire, so fitting! Snoopy ran amok and (with luck) downed 4 including the Red Baron. One RE was downed but one returned with the photos.
When it was over we pulled out PI again and played 3 more crime cases with a brief pause for celebrating the turn of the year.
Now THAT is getting into character! Awesome.
Looks like a great time! Those flying caps & goggles are spectacular!
We had a blast. Even though it was -9 outside I'm in a short sleeve shirt, hot orange. Our wood stove makes the room too toasty for me to stay dressed for the season!
Oh, look!... You've built a wall around the U.S.
Who, may I ask paid for that?
Oops... that had a "bit" of a political tone to it.
Looks like a fun game. I really envy how you manage to get your friends and family involved. If I ever make it back to Warsaw, I may look you up.
To answer your question... WINGS of GLORY, of course! Unfortunately, I have been rather sick this New Year , so had to settle for solo action. (But that sums up my life as of late)

I'm a little late answering but: Pandemic; Ticket to Ride; Stop Thief (restored); Jokers & Marbles; Sequence.
Had fun with the Grandkids.
I loved playing Stop Thief as a kid. Great game. I still have it around here somewhere. What do you mean “restored”? Did someone rebuild the sound box?
Late to the party, but have been playing Sherman Leader by DVG. Did the Kickstarter on it almost a year ago, and a very heavy box hit the front porch just before Christmas. It's a very challenging solo game with a lot of replayability for those that enjoy WW2 skirmishes.
Interesting. I have been playing Phantom Leader (Deluxe) for years and love it. Also challenging, and a great solo game. I wasn't as impressed with Gato Leader, however... The Hunters: German U-Boats at War, 1939-43 is, in my estimation, a much better game.
For those interested, here's a link to the BGG entry for The Hunters: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/...ts-war-1939-43
As a result, I was hesitant and didn't commit to Sherman Leader... how does it play?
With both my daughters visiting we had a rousing evening of "Sorry!" -- its a compromise for family harmony from "Killer Bunnies"...
They redid the game, new board, different moves (rather than dice), three levels off play:

Still great family fun.
I'm only on my second campaign after getting blitzed in the first, so it's a little early for a real review. It's fun but seems pretty uphill, reminds me a bit of Warfighter WW2 in terms of the flexibility as you can combine different campaigns with different objectives, and then you add in the two card decks (special conditions and events) and multiple options for building your force. So, there's plenty to decide on both before in planning and during the campaign. I'm hoping that it has the same learning curve as WFWW2 since I eventually survived some of the battles in that DVG offering. As a result, I was hesitant and didn't commit to Sherman Leader... how does it play?
We've ended up playing a lot of Chimera Station: a far more subtle game that it appears at first glance. It's a worker-placement game wherein you get to modify your workers by adding things like brains & tentacles. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/...himera-station
