Default Derby Worlds Saturday 7th October Game 4

The last game of the day pitted a Hannover two-seater and two Albatros D.v's against three Sopwith Camels. We were able to include more spectators as players in this game.

JohnBiggles was flying the Hannover and Naharaht this Camel.

To save time, as the planes were so far apart to begin with, all three cards in the first turn were played together. JohnBiggles' Hannover pilot was then able to shoot at a Camel but Naharaht's Camel came in for a beam attack on the Hannover and its observer could not turn his gun far enough round to shoot back. An Albatros was also closing in and exchanged fire with the Camel.

The third Camel entered a cloud and so the second Albatros could not shoot at it.

The second Camel turned right and avoided the oncoming Albatros. The third Camel emerged from the cloud and exchanged shots with the second Albatros; with the result that smoke started pouring from the Camel's engine.

Naharaht flew behind the Hannover, so close to the Albatros that its pilot was too busy avoiding a collision to fire. However the Hannover's observer opened up at close range.

Meanwhile the second Camel and Second Albatros flew towards each other and fired. The smoking Camel headed back towards the cloud for safety.

The smoking Camel performed an Immelmann turn. Naharaht turned his Camel right and JohnBiggles turned his Hannover left. They nearly collided. The Camel with four white bars turned right and attacked the brown and black Albatros, which had turned left. The green and blue Albatros flew straight on.

The green and blue Albatros turned towards the cloud. The Camel with the four bars turned right and the brown and black Albatros flew straight on.

Naharaht turned slightly to the right and went head to head with the brown and black Albatros, which had flown straight ahead. Both planes exploded! JohnBiggles' Hannover pilot, who had Immelmann turned, watched the carnage. As the two doomed pilots fell to earth in the wreckage of their planes, they possibly contemplated their fates in the afterlife but perhaps drew some comfort from the fact that they had 'evened their score with the enemy'.

The Entente had won the final encounter of the day.

During the day JohnBiggles had shown himself to be an excellent pilot of German two-seater planes. An encounter between him and Hedeby flying a Bristol Fighter might be interesting to watch.

    The End.

He's more slippery than a slippery thing that's slippery ! The W deck of the Hannover does help though.
