Thread: Home brew MGs for minis

Default Home brew MGs for minis

Hey all you crafty ladies and gents. Looking for some ideas on how you make machine guns for your scratch built minis. Or if one of your planes should happen to take a dive and break one off (heaven forbid!) and you have to replace said gun, what do you use? I am trying my hand at scratch building and the guns are posing a problem. I know I can order some from Shapeways or similar outlets, but I was wondering if any of you “do-it-yourself-ers” had some pro tips for me? Thanks so much everyone for all the great contributions to this site. You all are such an inspiration to me!

Hi Nick, I use a micro-bit drill to tap small holes in the desired location. Then, I cut a staple to the appropriate length and use Super Glue to secure it. Once it's dry I paint it a gun metal.

Thanks Peter, that is a great resource to have! If I can't swing it on my own, then this is a sure-fire source. I do like to try, tho.

At a quick glance it looks like I can get each gun for about $0.13 plus the shipping, or more if I want a gunner attached to it. I like the making and problem solving part of the hobby so I will give it a go. If it turns out to be utter rubbish, I will orde from Shapeways. Any other ideas for me?
