Default Getting started in Wings with a small community

    Hello from the Alamo City,
I'm just getting started with Wings of Glory in my area. There are a handful of local players in San Antonio, and really only one game shop that sells the minis. All the same, though, I am really excited to learn more about the game and build up my own collection of planes to match my Star Wars: Armada collection . Anyone else from San Antonio here? I'm trying to start a school miniatures gaming club as well, so any suggestions y'all have for that would be welcome.

    Adam,
Welcome to the Aerodrome from the beautiful Hudson River Valley. You'll find this community of gamers a friendly and helpful group of people. A couple of years ago, I went to a conference in San Antonio (my first time there) really had a fun time -- stayed in an historic hotel next to the Alamo where Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders!
    best,
    Bill

    Thumbs up

G'day Adam & welcome to the 'drome on behalf of the pilots who fly in NSW down in Australia.

There are a few Texas boys who visit the Forum so I think you should be able to make contact with others in your area.

Great idea to start a club at the school. A couple of other Forumites have done similar.

Welcome to the Aerodrome, Adam, from here near Norwich in the United Kingdom. In a school group, depending upon age, the more colourful W.W.1 planes and slightly simpler basic rules might be more appealing.

Starting in a school would be an excellent way to start. A like minded teacher is always a bonus too.

Welcome to the 'Drome Adam. As has been said before this is a very friendly community, so ask any question you want, it will get answered.
Welcome from the W. KY. Aerodrome in Paducah, located on the banks of the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers.
Take a look at the WWI section and the Over The Trenches (OOT) section, The Bitter End Campaign, to see what is being done and to get ideas for WWI or possibly WWII scenarios. Right now the WWII section of the forums is not producing as much as WWI, but it has different scenarios as well.
Also in the Great Britain or England section of the World Forums check out the 100 Years Ago Today forum. You should find that enjoyable reading as well.
Glad you are starting in your school, like one of the other guys said maybe get a teacher involved, maybe a History teacher, or one that has been in the service.

Bottom line, there is a lot of information here to enjoy and use.

    Have fun and FLY RIGHT

Thanks for the welcome y'all! I'm having a good time getting the school group started. WWI planes are proving to be interesting to the other students- maybe once we get started we can expand into Sails of Glory as well.

    Howdy Adam,

Wow all of these welcomes and none from TEXAS, I am ashamed. . . I am in San Antonio and have been holding WoG WW1 classes for the past 10 years during the summer for middle school aged kiddos. Search for Wings of Glory Goes to School to check out other posts. We will be at Multiverse Games next Wednesday, December 27 around 6ish to fly planes. Join us if you can. LMK if you need help with your class.
