See you on the Dark Side......
Very cute!
What materials did you use (especially for the deck planking, it looks awesome) Neil?
Here are pictures of the first one you did, Neil! So sorry I got sidetracked and forgot to take and post pictures of it when we talked about it earlier... Now that they are both here in Ohio, Karl and I are in negotiations on how best to showcase them at Origins this coming year. They are things of beauty, indeed - SMS Leitha and her sister-monitor SMS Maros
Here's a shot of it being escorted by one of the new A-H Albatros DIIIs...
Thanks again for your thougthfulness and largess, Neil!
Always the best,
Matt
Can't wait to see them both in action together Matt.
See you on the Dark Side......
The main deck planking and also the upper deck, were laser cut by a friend of mine specifically for this project.
Turrets (less upper wheelhouse and guns) were completed by Sparky after my butterfingers couldn't manage them.
The 2 Nordenfeldt machine guns (obsolete by WW1 but a real nice model) are Shapeways.
The crew figures are German 1/144th Shapeways figures (1 of the group even has a tray with a glass and bottle on).
The upperstructure and hull sides are plastic card, the railings, forward funnels and stairs are from a model shop that deals in ship extra's.
The funnel is a metal rod cut to size.
The hull (under the laser cut deck) is foamboard.
The upper deck supports and armoured wheelhouse are wood.
The wheel on the mark 2 is scratchbuilt.
Here is a link to my album with some of the construction pics in:

These look the dogs Neil, very nicely done. Matt's mat really shows off Maros well.
